Hi Guys,

Here are some guides to the most common issues, you should also read the

WOFF BH&H II FAQ

WOFF UE FAQ for much more detailed information for WOFF UE or WOFF PE.

(for older versions of WOFF, WOFF2, or WOFF3 see WOFF FAQ for much more detailed information).

THE FAQ HAS THE LATEST INFORMATION, please see the initial sections on installing and configuring. Installation sections 1 through 4, including the important DirectX 9 install requirement on Windows7,8 or 10. If you have any issues some useful sections are in the FAQ (too many to list, but a few examples sections 5, 6, 7, 15, 16, 17, 35, 40, 44, 47, 56, 58 and others and the end "Laptop Users Notes" for gaming laptop users, and many others.

PCs are funny beasts - always have been for decades and still are. Just because another dozen programs work fine doesn't mean there is no issue on your PC that could stop WOFF or another program from working - so please have patience.
Read the FAQ carefully for your issue. If you have carefully tried all in the FAQ only then contact support please. We are a small team so help us to help you so if you do need to contact us, please see the last 2 pages of the FAQ and follow the instructions please.

1. WOFF BH&H II, WOFFPE, UE or other is installed and when you go to fly WOFF doesn't start.
OR
You have crashes in runtime

(for example you see a black screen) then it's likely due to a problem with Direct X 9 on your PC :.

See the latest FAQs (see top of page for links):

40) WOFF: I cannot fly with the new DX9 Enhanced Shaders option?

Important: Make sure you have the most current WOFF update patch installed if any are available.
See the Downloads page on the WOFF website. http://www.overflandersfields.com
(choose the correct option for your version of WOFF)

Get that unzip /unpack it, and run the contained file to update WOFF.

ALSO

1.1) FOR WOFF you WILL need to install the full Direct X9 install from Microsoft. (Even in Windows 7, Windows 8 or 8.1, Windows 10).

This is now included in WOFF folders in the TOOLBOX folder.

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT:

Install DirectX 9
You need to install the full DirectX 9 install from Microsoft.
Yes even in Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10. Yes even if Windows tells you not to, and yes even if you think its already included/ built in!

(note if you installed the latest WOFF Update patch, the direct X 9 installation file is in your C:\OBDSoftware\WOFF\Toolbox\DX9Redist folder. The file is called directx_Jun2010_redist.exe (if you installed elsewhere look for the Toolbox\DX9Redist folder there)
Or download from: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

Now run the directx_Jun2010_redist.exe file, it is a self-extracting compressed file. It will unpack the files contained inside itself to a temporary folder of your choice. So do that, then once it unpacks now go to that temporary folder you chose and run the DXSetup to install it. You must do this step or it wont be installed!

DirectX 12, 11 and 9 do not conflict with each other. You can install and update them in any order.

You will already have DirectX 11 (or DirectX 12 in Windows 10), which is meant to be compatible with DX9 but you will still need some components Microsoft chose not to include. So do not skip this step, even if you think you already have DX9 installed.

1.2) If you still have a problem download and install the latest clean fresh video drivers from NVidia or AMD/ATI website depending on your Graphics card.[/b]

1.3) If still an issue, you can also try reducing the settings directly below DX9 Enhanced Shaders section to lower values, or failing that you can disable the DX9 Enhanced Shaders option and choose Default Shaders instead.

Before trying disabling the shaders ATI cards 4xxx series for example, or 7800 series users may require setting cloud shadow scale to 0 (disables cloud shadows) and turn off sun glare and test it.[UPDATE: if this works make sure you have definitely installed any latest update patch for your WOFF - it should fix the need to do this]

Options in Workshops. Access Workshops from the button far right of the Main menu in WOFF.

(For WOFF3, also you can try disabling clouds ("Cloud Shadow Scale" set to "0") and/or "Dynamic Lights" in Workshop.)

2. TRACKIR does not work now, but it used to work in WOFF?

1) Try unplugging your TrackIR device, and plug it back in, this should help it recognized WOFF.

2) Look for Game Updates your TracKIR 5.4.1 software. Look in one of the following ways:

Or click the large orange start button at top left of the TrackIR interface:

3) Make sure you have the latest TrackiR Software version 5.4.2 final installed.

4) WOFF has lots of new features and like most games or sims there has to be something for the future in there too. There are many many options you can tweak: turn off/turn down/set lower in Workshops. See the FAQ section 18.

From http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/06-support/support-download-software-and-manuals.html

- if you have, then uninstall it, and re-install 5.4.2 fresh. Then do 1) and 2) above.
