I have been using the above MB for almost a year. Now it seems that my SATA drives are dropping out. I can see them if I reboot the machine several time but this is frustrating. So I bought another SATA PCI card and installed it. Then I discovered my WinTV card isn't working nor does it show up in Device Manager. I am using it on PCIEX1_1. I haven't used the card in a long time so I really couldn't say when this happened. No big deal so I just removed it. I then noticed after I installed the VANTEC SATA II host card on PCI2 slot. I plugged in my missing drives and all was well...until. I noticed my sound wasn't working! I know it worked the day before. I removed and reinstalled the drivers for my onboard Realtek audio. Still nothing. Further frustration. I then took an old sound blaster card from another computer, also PCI and installed that. I am back up and running but I am very disappointed in the hoops I had to jump through. I hope somebody may be able to help me get back to normal. I tried to install a PCIEX sound card from my ASUS Formula MB before installing the sound blaster card. The light lit on the SupremeFX II card when I plugged it into the PCIEX1_1 but just like the TV card, it wasn't recognized.

I had the same issues with a i5-750 MSI board. After jumping through similar hoops, a fresh install of Windows cured it all. I've upgraded since then though.

Can I install over my existing copy without losing all my programs?

If you haven't tried it yet try deleting your drive mappings and re adding them in the disk management menu.

Much quicker than a reinstall. I remember doing a full reinstall a while ago only to find my issue was some buggy Nvidia drivers that didn't play nice with my SLI set-up. That was a wasted day, but a lesson learned!

I would try what Bokononist said first. You can do a repair install where you won't lose any of your games. There

are a couple of ways to do it.

I have found that sometimes if you really have a bad corruption, the repair install won't fix it. You just wind up

with more problems and wasted time.
