I've been elected Emperor by both diplomacy and sword but I've never clicked that 'dismantle' button. Sort of wish I was in ironman so I had an achievement to memorialize the event. smile

Yes, you could be racking them up. I've always been curious why this won't work for you but you've not seem bothered by it.

I'd still like to work it out though smile

I still suspect it's mod related.

Yeah, I had problems with mods on Crusader Kings too, there were a few that even though I'd disabled then deleted them would still show up in the launcher when I start the game. That said I've gotten so used to several minor graphics mods it feels weird to play without them.

Revolutionary rebels took over Liege (my vassal) and established a republic. Even though this is the age of revolutions apparently it didn't count as a revolution though...

[Linked Image]

About 5 years later (1741) the real revolution kicks off it Britain. Caused by a disaster after they were wrecked by Spain and France.

[Linked Image]

A quick check of the ledger shows that the former Royal Navy was either destroyed or disbanded.

[Linked Image]

And it's time for the counter-revolution to begin!

[Linked Image]

With no British forces to deal with it was a pretty straightforward war. Portugal occupied some colonies and that was about it. My transport fleet had only 30 ships so it took multiple trips to get my 90k men across the channel.

[Linked Image]

End result, restoration of the Neville dynasty?

Nice, a PU over Spain.

Interesting about Britain's navy, must have disbanded no? Why would they do that? Did Spain and France team up to knock out their navy? Seems unlikely.

Perhaps they ran out of money? But I've never seen the AI do such a thing. I want to start a new game in Asia but I'll try to finish this one up since I'm quite close to finished.

Edit: Game keeps crashing in 1778. Older saves work but then I'll have to fight Austria all over again...

Edit 2: It's annoying how the 'support loyalists' actions doesn't persist between saves, have to re-enable every time you load the game.

Revolutions are expensive I guess, and navy upkeep was the first thing they cut smile

Didn't know that about the loyalists support.

Yeah I only noticed because I got a pop-up about high liberty desire.

When even revolution isn't revolutionary enough.

Not sure how this happened, did my troops shoot each other? ar15

Austria is at war. (Also check out Livonia who never attacks Riga even when building an empire)

[Linked Image]

Perfect time to hit that button. You can see that I finally lost Saxony as an ally, we still have good reltions but trust is too low to re-ally

Did you buy the new DLC?

For years I've sang Paradox's praises. But I don't think I could recommend this game to a newcomer in good conscience. If a new player bought EU IV and wanted to get the complete experience, how much money would he need to spend? $300? It's obscene really.

I love the game, but Paradox's DLC policy is not good.

Honestly there's nothing in the expansion worth $20. The map update is nice but that's free. Luckily there's only a few DLCs that are 'must have', and can be had together on special for $50 - 60.

So now that Mandate of Heaven has been out for a while what does everyone think? Worth a buy? Are Chinese mechanics fun or just a chore?

Hey SDE, I didn't buy it. I almost did before the Japan run I did not too long ago, but chose not to. As I mentioned before, Paradox's DLC policy has put me off and I haven't bought a new DLC in a long time. Actually I haven't played in a long time. Motorsports Manager is my current strat game.

I love EU IV, but I've grown disillusioned by Paradox, and I was one of their biggest supporters for years.

That's a shame but definitely understandable.

Just wanted to show off the 1356 mod, it's been around a while (2014 I think?) and is by far my most used mod. Probably 60-70% of my games start here.
Why? Because it's very close to vanilla, it doesn't really change much other than the start and I just love a super-balkanised Europe. So many small states to pick from. Asia and Middle East feel quite different too.

One of my only complaints is that the newer versions of the mod override some other graphics mods such as CK2 religion colours.

I was thisclose to buying HOI 4 the other day. I had just finished my run in Motorsport Manager and was looking for my next addiction. Reviews have been trending up on that game as I guess they've addressed some of the early issues. But I didn't, in part because I didn't want to jump down the Paradox DLC rabbit hole. Getting in to the game would compel me to get everything to keep current. So I bought Football Manager 18 instead.

That mod looks cool. Thanks for the info.

HoI4 is probably the only Paradox game I would recommend against buying. I liked it when it first released but as time has gone on the structural flaws just become more evident. Still fun for a while but not in the same category as CK or EU. Better stick with HoI3 and mods. smile

Another great mod to check out is Imperium Universalis a total conversion set in the ancient world. They've overhauled pretty much every aspect of the game from armies, to graphics to trade and events, slave mechanics and they even included a whole new world map!
The early versions were quite rough and the mod still crashes occasionally but it's one of the most detailed and complete mods I've seen. If you have even the slightest interest in Ancient Rome, Greece, Persia or China I'd check it out. thumbsup

Some shots from a game using the 1356 mod, it's an... interesting Europe. Can you guess what nation I'm playing as?
