---------------------------------

Had to D/L a windows 'Intel Grapics fix to get the computer running.

Question is.....does this mean my card is toast?

And if so....what should I replace it with?
I can get a 770 for about the same price.

How do you know it failed? Were you overclocking it like crazy. I bet it's a software issue. I've had video cards

go off and it would require a full reinstall of windows. Sometimes those drivers are just crap and hose the whole

thing. Then again there is the chance to upgrade.

I see the speed of the fans are down to zip, and the card doesn't heat up.
I got the 'error' notice and had to d/l the windows video program to get anything to display.

Now my software, as you say, is not seeing the video card.

I don't really have the cash to even replace it, let alone 'upgrade'.
A reinstall would be nice, but I can't do that on my own, I think you need a disc to reformat...?

I had to pay the local ISP to reinstall Win7 when I had a Dell with WinXP on it.
I couldn't reformat WinXP on my own.....it just wouldn't do it.
The tech said you need a 'special' disc....I've always wondered if that was true.
That was my laptop.

This is my game box that failed. It's always had Win7Pro, I built and installed it with Skate, here.
I still have the NVidia DVD that came with the card, perhaps I could reinstall that?
Or maybe the card needs to be reseated?
I have 'never' overclocked the card...it was fine as is, I shut down, and when I rebooted it was 'gone'.
My system automatically showed the Res. view of 800X1000 and downloaded a video driver from windows.
I can't access my NVidia program, says nothing is there.
The system is a few years old.

Any ideas?

Well maybe the power connector is not connected. The 670 should have it's own power connection, maybe two.

I've smoked a couple of cards in my time and they generally will start acting up with artifacts if they are

overheating.

If you have a legitimate serial number, any disk will do to reinstall 7 as long as it's exactly the same. Like if you Win 7 Pro 64bit OEM serial, that will not work with Win 7 Pro 64bit Retail.

You could also just try a restore. It's in accessories, system tools, system restore.

Nope no artifacts, no hints of failure, just turned it off, and when I turned it back on I had no card.
800x600 resolution. System immediately D/Led a windows display adapter.
Yes, mine has two plugs. I haven't check it inside yet, can't remember how to get to the Bios.
It's from 2007!! I just checked.
Gotta get the ASUS book out.

Yeah, I was hoping a system restore would do it, but I'm not sure how that works for the video card drivers.
And it might not be seated properly now, I don't know. But I doubt it, I haven't bumped it, or moved it in years.
I'll check them both.

Wondering if I could just reinstall the NiVida software, with the original disc that came with the card?

And I do have the Win7Pro Disk, it's legit smile .

Hate to lose all my flight sim stuff...HSFX and DBW downloads, which take 'days' on the DSL connection.

But it is what it is....hope it's not the video card, cause now days, I have a lot more time, than money.
They took our 'private' pension - guaranteed healthcare - from the city (Detroit), and we don't get SS or Medicare. Federal Judge didn't leave us with much.
We left some good men, great friends, laying in the alleys back there too.
25 years fighting animals in that 'pit', for nothing but the satisfaction.
It was no 'county sheriff' job, I'll tell ya. These guys working up here in the forest, where I retired to, have no idea. wink

So we're living on our savings, and a reduced pension, no healthcare.
No cash for new toys, that's for sure.
Man, I could tell stories....don't get me started.
Where is 'Ben Franklin', John Adams, and ol' George, when we need them....lol...I guess that's for the next generation...sadly.

So....I don't have the money for any new video card. None.
I saw that mine is still selling for about 200 bucks, I think I paid $450 in 2007.

Hope all is well, with you and yours speedbump. smile
As always, thanks for the help.

BTW speedbump....I have a Win7 OEM disc.
That has the numbers on the package.
What's the difference?
Can I still reinstall?

Yes. You might want to try an in place repair install. All your stuff or at least most of it will remain as it is,

just will fix corrupted things. Now if that disk is not WIN 7 service pack one and you have service pack one

installed, it won't work. You can uninstall service pack one though and then it will work as far as a repair

install.

Just in case you are unsure about the key on the wrapping.....

https://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/

Oh and that card comes with a three year warranty. If it's just out of warranty, I would email them and

ask them to still honor it. Or go on their FB page and do some serious complaining about how it went

belly up right after the warranty expired. EVGA used to have the best reputation in the business as

far as warranty goes.

Thanks for the time Speedbump...I sincerely appreciate it.

Yeah, I have the key, it's on the disc package the Win7pro DVD came in.

I'm gonna have to work up the courage to break open that box again.....it worries me.
But I think I can handle it. Just to be sure the card is seated properly.
First I'll try a system restore, then running the GeForce DVD again, maybe that will work.
If it all goes bad, I'll just reinstall, if that doesn't get the card to work, I'll go with the free windows card.

Hate to give up flying though...... wink
