Still no dynamic campaign, smart scaling or decently modeled AIM-120s, so not for me, no. Those shortcoming's aren't deal breakers from my perspective, but they're very, very close to the top of my personal list of "must have" improvements (along with a complete revamp of AI fuel/afterburner management). Back on topic, though, the F/A-18E does show a lot of promise.

Looking forward to this! Nice progress!

i think this will retire alot of Falcon 4.0 pilots.... Still no dynamic campaign, smart scaling or decently modeled AIM-120s, so not for me, no. People need to let go of the dynamic campaign. Falcon 4's was an anomaly and even Kevin Klemmick has admitted that it's difficult to develop and knowing what he knows now, with experience of creating that dynamic campaign, he wouldn't do it again. You're not gonna see that type dynamic campaign again. Maybe something that seems that's part-dynamic but the F4 one again. The other stuff can be fixed. So yeah, your choice if you want to fly DCS or not but if you're a serious combat simmer or even flight simmer you're doing yourself a disservice not to try DCS out of some perceived notions of fanboyism somewhere.

Very nice! The cockpit looks like it's done on a professional level, not bad at all, coming from people that are doing this in their free time. This will bring DCS to a new level. And on the other hand... 17 May 2013 Update As for our F/A-18C Hornet, the new external model can already be seen in DCS World and work on the cockpit has been ongoing for quite a awhile. Once the last of the FC3 avionics bugs have been squashed, much of our avionics programming staff will move on to the Hornet. September 2014 Srsly, step it up ED.

I hope this hud is just a placeholder, it rather reminds me Strike Fighters than DCS level. They've already made it clear that the HUD is a work in progress and not yet collimated.

It's not so-called "fanboys" when it comes to dynamic campaigns. A lot of us came from the Falcon community, where we've spent the last two decades (between Falcon 3.0 and Falcon 4) with a dynamic campaign. While the systems modeling of DCS is unparalleled, the single-player experience is a bit like spending the last fifteen years drinking a 21 year old Glenlivet, and now drinking Southern Comfort; it gets the job done, but the experience isn't nearly as satisfying.

I hope we get replay modes straight from some skate game in the module. That cannot be too difficult to arrange, rock music on and some view switching along with the music.
I'd like it to go like this:
Cold start complete -> into replay with button switching montage to some Beastie boys Taxi to runway and hold complete -> Replay with saluting ground crew to some ballad stuff ... lots of mist Take off and gear up complete -> Heavy metal with some rewinds and close ups of the burners lighting up ... and so it continues with big buttons to instantly upload to SimHQ.
I'm only half kidding too
-C- I think we'd need some dubstep with a good, heavy drop for some epic turning and burning scenes too. And no, I swear I haven't spent countless hours finding just the right music for the perfect flying playists.

I'd put ZZ-Top lagrange for the power up sequence / cockpit button mashing.

I think Penguran was pointing out that any "ED's is still early WIP" observation runs counter to Wags's own comments from May 2013 - "As for our F/A-18C Hornet ... work on the cockpit has been ongoing for quite a while." Given that a year and a half has passed since Wags made that observation, I can understand a certain amount of "WTF?" around the state of the cockpit images in the September 2014 newsletter.

Exactly, it just doesn't make sense. Why say something like that and then, 16 months later, post something that seems to be an early draft at best. Either they have been pulling our noses and haven't been working on Hornet at all or ( I wish) they're hiding it's true level of completion.

I have to disagree, dynamic campaign is difficult to make but it's not an anomaly. If you create a team specifically for creating such campaign and put money in you will get results.
