I just wonder how much longer the "young adults rebelling against a repressive government in a dystopian future" genre is going to be around.

Ask George Lucas. He took it and ran with it, along with Logan's Run and their ilk.

'In Bruges',a very good dark comedy starring Colin Farrell,Brendon Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes.Second time of seeing it and I still laughed hard. The bottle scene and the stand-off at the end in the hotel are just brilliant.

If you like Gleeson, check out 'The Guard',another dark comedy well worth watching.

Gleeson is a very good actor. I liked him a lot in Braveheart, Safe House, Troy and of course "Into the Storm" where he played Winston Churchill.

He will always be remembered for his Harry Potter appearances as well.

at least 2 more Hunger Games movies, and they left Divergent open for a 2nd movie.

'Saints and Soldiers: The Void'

Hmm... Not sure what to make of this one. I love films about tanks but this just didn't do it for me.The Hellcats and the German Panzers all looked like they just rolled off the production line. Not very convincing acting either. At times I thought I was watching an amateur film with re-enactors as the stars. Maybe I'm too critical.

Fury had better be 10 times better than this.

Million Dollar Baby, haven't seen it for nearly ten years. Clint can really do a good movie, Hilary Swank is great in it. Followed it with The Quick and the Dead for something to pull me out of a Clint induced depression biggrin Didn't even realise how many big names were in it, Hackman is great as the bad guy, reminds me of his character in Unforgiven. And Sharon Stone..man she was smoking hot back then..damn.

What ever happened to Hillary Swank? She kind of disappeared.

Looks to have still been working. Just not in very many high profile projects.

The Reichenbach Fall, 3rd and last episode of S2 of Sherlock.

Very good. This series' major problem is that they didn't do enough of them!!

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

It was disappointing. It wasn't bad, but it by no means lived up to the hype. Everyone saying 'It's great'.

Didn't feel like 'Planet of the Apes' either. I've only ever watched this and the original so I don't know what the vibe was for the dozen or so movies in between but the new film feels completely different to the original, like they were not part of the same universe. The Apes did look pretty decent, I'll give them that.

6/10.

Omygodilovethatshow! Recently finished watching Series 3. Love Benedict Cumberbatch now. Just watched another mini series he was in, Parade's End. It was pretty good, but dying having to wait for series 4 of Sherlock to be on Netflix.

LOL, the first of S4 will air Dec 2015, so you have quite a wait ahead!

I saw BBC America will start airing them soon. That's good since they didn't have S3 on Netflix on Bluray, so at least now I can see them in HD when BBCA gets to S3. Of course, commercials will suck.

Almost forgot:

Europa Report

Apollo 18 meets 2010 meets The Abyss. Good concept marred by a meh execution brought about by the combination of a low budget and the IMO mistake of making it a "found footage" film where it's all from cameras on board the ship and spacesuits. The out-of-order presentation of the scenes made the film unnecessarily difficult to follow for the first 2/3 until you catch up with what happened when and to whom.

It felt like a Clarke or Asimov story retold by an amateur.

"The Vanishing Corpse" "starring" Bela Lugosi.

I of course watched the MST3K 3000 version. smile

I really hate the 'found footage' style of film. I will avoid wherever possible. Pity,I had Europa Report on my 'to watch' list.

Yeah, it was a real letdown. The plot was worthwhile, and the characters had potential but it was squandered.

On the flipside, if someone remakes 2001 in this style it would be panned as the worst remake in the history of cinema.

just watched several episodes of the Masters and Johnson story, Masters of Sex. Having lived through the 60's it is interesting to see all the turmoil in the lives that are part of that timeline.

Snowpiercer (2013) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1706620/

I had never heard of it but it was showing good reviews on Rotten Tomatoes so I gave it a watch.

Quite enjoyable sci-fi about a failed global warming experiment.Just over 2 hours long, could have maybe trimmed 15 mins off it but it kept me entertained the whole way through. John Hurt and Ed Harris star plus Tilda Swinton gave a great performance.

Gun Woman (2014) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3141912/

What the f**k did I just watch? Actually I couldn't watch some of it,it was too gross.I won't go into what this film contains but if you have a strong stomach and a thirst for revenge give it a go. Just don't let any minors near it.
