Beautiful shots, it's hard to pick a favourite, they're all great!

This is Bobby Rahal, thanks for playing the trial version of Microsoft's CART Precision Racing

So I'm interested in getting X-Plane because I'm over FSX's bad performance. Would you be able to tell me what addons you have to make the game look that good? Also what kind of settings are you running? Did you turn up the eye candy just for the shots or do you fly with that much detail?

I have a combination of freeware and payware installed. Ill try to list the best free and payware addons.
my settings are somewhere in th eupper middle of settings. I like to keep a fast frame rate over eye candy. I dont adjust anything prior to taking screen shots. You need to play with the setting a lot oin the begginning, because it works a lot different from FSX. You have to find that sweet spot for your system. Trial and error will eventually get you there. However, once you get it installed, Ill be happy to help you with it.

1. Skymaxx pro (payware) http://skymaxx-extreme.com/ Its kind of like rex for X-plane, but since XP clouds work differently its not th esame thing, but it does add cloud shadows and makes th eclouds and sky coloring more realistic than default. It also does not seem to impact frame rates that much.

2. Hi res Terain Mesh (donationware) http://www.alpilotx.net/ Adds better elevation mesh to X-planes world. Currently this is on ver 2.0, but the author is working on V3, due out soon.

3. Photo scenery (Freeware) http://simheaven.com Some great photoscenery for X-plane. However, its limited to Europe and a few other parts, not much yet for North America.

4. X-Plane.org (freeware) A hugh collection of user made airports and scenery as welll as aircraft. Some is payware quality. After a while you start to know who the really good designers are and start downloading only the really good stuff.

5. Carenado.com (payware) Really good general aviation aircraft. They convert all their FSX airacft to XP and in some cases, add some more features to some of them.

6.CZST Stwert Airport scenery (Payware) shown here in th elast 2-3 shots I posted. I really nice payware airport for X-plane. http://beti-x.com/

7. Truscenery airport scenery (payware) http://www.truscenery.com/ More really nice scenery. Not shown in my screenshots, but kind of like ORBX for X-plane.

8. X-plane.com Airport scenery gateway (freeware) http://gateway.x-plane.com/airports/page Airport scenery using default object library. Very small file sizes. Adds basic buildings and objects to some of the default airports.

There are other, but this should get you started.

Any other X-plane users here, please feel free to add on to this list.

Hope this helps,

Rob
