I'm currently looking at a list of the top 100 films at the US box office for 2014 and I noticed that there are quite a lot of science fiction titles in there and there are even some in the top 10! What I also noticed is that most of these sci-fi movies are very action oriented and have quite a bit of humor. The one exception seems to be "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" which did have action sequences but almost no humor.

I'm wondering how much action there will be in Interstellar.

I'm all for more science fiction. I'm looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy a lot.

Has anyone checked out 'Space Station 76'? I don't understand its poor reviews,I thought it was very good. Seen it twice in fact.

Call me picky, but I wouldn't call that a SCIENCE fiction, rather a techno-fantasy. wink

Still lots of good movies though. wink

Well yes, if you're referring to hard scifi then those are very rarely seen in theaters in the US. Stuff like Primer, Pi, Gattaca, 2001 and Blade Runner is very rare these days.

Yes, unfortunately. The Gravity and the Moon were amazing though. Can't wait for The Martian, hopefully Hollywood will make it right.

Just finished reading and it's the best book I've read in years.
