The Vulcan is owned by a private trust (not by the RAF) and so requires millions each year from donors and sponsors to keep her in the air - they get nothing from the Government or UK tax payers. Inside the bomb bay doors you can see lists of the names of everyone who has made a substantial donation (£100+ ??) to help keep her flying. Airbus clearly donate sufficient to 'rent' the inside of the under carriage doors.

Donate generously, or we could see the Vulcan in Ryanair livery and bomb-bay class could become a reality hahaha

I remember in 2009 when they were asking for donations to keep her flying.

Then it was time for the last of the 'warm up acts' before the first of the Swedish Sisters took to the air. The Red Arrows celebrated their 50th anniversary with a great display …

Next up will be the first of the two Swedish Sisters … boing

After the ‘Saab Sisters’ we had more whirlybird action – first up on stage was the Spanish Patrulla ASPA helicopter display team with their Eurocopter EC-120s …

The Royal Navy’s Black Cats display team then showed off the old and the new – the ‘old’ Westland Lynx HMA8 and the ‘new’ Westland Wildcat HMA2 …

Hope you like them smile

After the two 'Swedish Sisters' we were treated to a nostalgic display by the British triplets - a flight of three Folland Gnats. Their livery reflects the history of the Red Arrows - initially formed as the Yellowjacks in 1964, they re-organised in 1965 to become the famous Red Arrows, using the Gnat until 1979 when it was replaced by the Hawk. The Gnat is tiny compared to just about every other jet aircraft - as former pilots would say, rather than get in it, you wear it!

And finally, a few ground shots before the drive home.

A Texan II

A visitor from Slovakia ..?

BAC Jet Provost

Westland Whirlwind

The mighty Vulcan

A flying egg ...?

An RAF Sentry (the aircraft, not the man in the foreground wink )

Turkish maritime patrol aircraft

F-16 (Danish, if my memory serves me correctly)

Noisy end of F-16

Westland Merlin

The ubiquitous Huey

Westland Sea Lynx

Hope you enjoyed RAF Waddington 2014 smile

Chucky, Gopher, thanks for the comments smile

For my next thread would you like to see some tanks (Tankfest 2013 - yeah, I missed this year's event!!), some 'big guns' from my recent visit to the Royal Artillery Museum at Royal Arsenal, Woolwich or the firework display in Budapest to celebrate the Hungarian National Day (20 Aug'14)?

Cheers smile

Tanks!! Hell yes!! yep

I keep promising myself a visit to Bovington. My mate was there a few weeks ago so I said make sure you see Tiger 131. He then sent me a pic of my name on the donations list to said vehicle (yeah,I thought it was worth it). I could spend days in that place,I just need to organise it.

Chucky, do you mean this one ...? neaner

Bovington is fab, but you definitely need several days to do it justice. I heard it has more serviceable main battle tanks than the British Army ... (which probably says a lot about the defense cuts, ho hum!)

Any more votes for tanks? smile
