Very sad and unfortunate. It looks almost like they went into a vortex ring. RIP.
Edit: was typing while Para_Bellum was posting - same observation on the vortex ring.

Poor guys. Looks like they didn't even have a chance to get out. Also looks like the pilot got into the vortex ring state with that rapid sudden decent. RIP.

Looks like VRS and hard landing. I wonder if the pilot had the collective up to counter VRS and wasn't able to dump it in time? That landing would hurt, I think.

I would think if he'd bottomed out the collective as soon as it touched down that might've prevented the rebound. Instead, the touchdown evaporated the VRS, the rotors caused lift again, but the tail had been fatally weakened and the sudden acceleration caused the snap.
It all happened too fast at too low an altitude.

Sure took the emergency vehicles a long time to get to the crash site. Not impressed with their effort either once at the scene.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Sure took the emergency vehicles a long time to get to the crash site they usually placed in the middle of the runway, as we can see helicopter crashed close to airport buildings. it was exhibition this day and, maybe, it was organization mistake to not place some additional units close to actions zone. several issues in the row took human lives, horrible unfortunate.

I always thought the tail on the hip was incredibly fragile looking. Beefing it up probably wouldn't have helped here but man that thing is fragile.
