Hello all,
Having partially fixed my mixture problem over in the tech support section, I return to training in April 1915 in the B.E. 2c. I'll follow Capt. Triggers on my first cross country to another field. But there isn't a compass (that I can see) in my crate, and so if I ever go solo, how do I get from A to B? The in-game map is almost cheating, because it shows where you are, but not detailed enough to use alone anyway. Do I just have to get used to the area, and then reorient myself (and print one of RAF-Louvert's maps) when I get out of training and assigned to a unit?
When did these beauties get compasses?
Oh, and I didn't have Robert_Wiggins's pilot backup utility installed, and had to turn back to the field on my first cross country trip. Any way to delete that or re-fly it? I seem to have credit for a competed mission, and I sure didn't complete it.
-------------------- I've been checking around here all summer but I couldn't fly much at all. We had a micro-burst hit our place and we lost something like 20 good-sized trees (thankfully no house damage or injuries), and had to fell others due to their proximity to the house. I have 8 FULL cords of wood at least (not face cords, I mean 4' x 4' x 8' cords) split and stacked, but still have much clean up to do. (this is the short version. I could tell some stories...) This winter my trusty chain saw and I will be mighty busy, but nights will hopefully be for more WOFF.

I believe F6 cycles through the various views. Some planes have a dedicated compass screen. Also, both the F5 and "z" keys will give you some extra info that might help!
The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...

Well, y'all have saved me a bunch! A handheld compass, an under the seat compass - I ought to be fine. Who knew? But I knew about Lou's maps and we have a wide format plotter at works, so once I get deployed I'm gold! And I do have TrackIR and I have looked down, but I didn't know I had to bend over so far as to kiss my tail feathers goodbye!
I was going to install Ankor's shadow mod but sometime last winter I got into a problem with an Nvidia driver update, and I'm still not quite right. I rolled back, but my nice Samsung HDMI monitor comes up as a non-plug-and-play and I csn't get rid of the Windows Vista (green bar) startup screen. I've tried the bcdedit commands that are easy to find, tried re-installing the display driver, tried leaving the monitor unplugged - it's not a huge deal but it's frustrating not to be able to fix something that seems so simple.
Plus I was hoping the dev's would have it incorporated into a patch by now...! But I'll be even happier to get the Zepplin add-on.
Thanks to all - good to see so many familiar "faces"!

And I do have TrackIR and I have looked down, but I didn't know I had to bend over so far as to kiss my tail feathers goodbye! It's certainly not the most convenient of locations. I usually try and and find a good landmark in the right direction and head for that until I can pick a new one further on ... and so on.
