To add on to this discussion:

-what Unit Tag? [SHQ] or [SCG]/[SCVG]/[CG]/[CV]/[CVG] (whatever is appropriate)

-There has to be a recruitment thread on their forum.

-Fanpage URL...do we want to link to our MWO forum or leave it blank?

-I assume faction or MWO Merc Corp needs to be chosen too.

I like the [SHQ] tag - short, simple.

For the homepage I suppose we could make a post here in the MWO forum and link mwomercs.com to the message URL... of course SimHQ registration & verification would need to be done but that's simple enough.

The way I understood it, if we form a "unit" that we would become Merc Corps... is it possible to form a unit under one of the exiting factions i.e. FRR or MRK or DAV etc...?

I'm not totally stuck on FRR - I just liked the logo and the space viking persona.

SHQ was kind of what I was thinking as well but I am open to others. I can't really determine if we can pick a faction with a unit or not. Kind of sounds like we can but it's not clear. I am kind of leaning pure merc corp which would allow us rollplay wise to run IS or Clans (as pirates).

I am not hard over on faction either. I am a fan of japanese culture and the reforms performed by theodore. Seemed to be the only one who concentrated a hundred percent on defeating clan. I do prefer IS but again...not critical.

I would say using our unit roll call message as our recruiting url could work.

IIRC, waaaaay back when this all was first brought up by PGI, we discussed being a merc unit for that reason Feet. It might end up being more expensive as far as buying components and some mechs, but would give us the most options once CW gets fleshed out and grows.
Seems like I read somewhere in the last couple of weeks that the unit would take on the affiliation of whomever did the buy in. Surely you could change it later?
For the tag, SimHQ is on the videos and youtube tags, so it might be good to go with that. Assuming the forum doesn't get sick of us and kick us out eventually. LOL

Only thing i hope doesnt happen is people start taking it to seriously and ruin the fun that is this game.

Yeah, I think we are all pretty much in agreement that fun will be our goal here... I'm not terribly interested in any structure that would put requirements on the players. Any mech, any build, play when we want to... Thursday night MWO madness and pick-up games whenever a couple of players want to get together. I think we already have the C-bill requirement handled or close to it so there is no real commitment required other than a willingness to join in the fun once in a while.

I really hope there is something within the unit formation where we can trade equipment and the like... it would be a great help to new players to be able to donate some spare weapons or c-bills to help outfit a new mech purchase.

PGI's community warfare plans are still pretty nebulous so much remains to be seen...

I believe the definition of this group is CASUAL. I have seen nothing on our game nights that leads me to believe anyone is ultra serious ... unhinged a little maybe ... <I hate TBRs> but not serious.

I don't think anyone here is interested in formations or practices or any of that nonsense. If we have a group that wants to step it up a little bit more they can schedule to meet together and form a lance for drops.

Like the other guys said, I see this as just a way for us to use the game for more abilities and "identity" for the group, but not change our style and approach.
No one wants a second job. Can't drink on the job, so that's out for me entirely. LOL
I've always pictured our game nights as meeting the guys at the bar to blow off steam a few nights a week. Instead of shooting pool we're blowing up bad guys.

As for what you bring, I think everyone has enough favorites that we can always fit the 3x4 requirement just with people volunteering to switch up. Hasn't been an issue.
