Let me preface by saying I'm trying to fix a junker. It's a 1990 Chevrolet Astro with a 6-cylinder. Has a blown head gasket, but strangely, it isn't smoking or anything, just overheating like hell and failing the block test.

I've heard of this stuff and literally, folks, this is a last-ditch effort, I have nothing left to lose on this thing. My eldest daughter needs something to get a few blocks to work and to drop her kids off at school. When it's idling, it doesn't overheat. At all. It can run all day and nothing happens.

Yes I've done it with a car that was not worth an engine tear down, but I was not trying to buy another car. It blew a head gasket and had coolant in the oil, smoke, the whole nine yards. This guy came out and for less than $200 bucks did this "sealer process". Surprisingly it worked, and the car ran for years before other stuff fell off. But the engine never blew or overheated.

The sealer worked for me. But, I would not do it on a car that was anything other than a junker to begin with.

Sounds like you don't have much to lose, but I'd drive it a while first before putting the kids in there in the middle of summer in TX.

Heck, I've seen a mechanic fill a crack in a HEAD of a 16v-92 Detroit Diesel with plain run of the mill silicone and it lasted for months....kid you not. Those engines ran at LEAST 12 hours a day.

I'd try it, as what have you got to lose.

Bars Leaks Liquid Copper I've used it and it works. Well worth the 9 or 10 bucks it cost at your local Auto parts store. http://barsproducts.com/catalog/view/13-liquid-copper-block-seal-intake-radiator-stop-leak-1109
