Well thank you, I'm humbled. I might add that I love your website and read it twice a week. I must have bought at least 4 games because of your high-lighting them in your writings.

I have only ever dabbled with a demo of Close Combat and couldn't get on with it however your video is indeed very interesting,I may have to re-visit it.

Thanks. However, "Close Combat" is another game which you can get over at Matrix Games. This video is from "Combat Mission" series of games from Battlefront.com. Two different games. Just wanted to point that out in case there was some confusion.

Combat Mission series of games are very deep games. You should read up on the various reviews in order to get a good understanding of where the series is coming from.

Thanks. Yes it was. It must have been about 4, maybe 5 times I had to force my troops up that hill. My biggest advantage was I was in that reverse slope and the enemy AI CO pushed his troops over the top and into my troop's fire. If I was playing a human in PBEM, I think the fight for the hill would have been even bloodier on my side. The suppressing fire I had pouring into the hill prior to the assault and then cover arcs during the assault really helped turn the enemy away. Real tactics work in this game. Combat Mission (for me) is not only a fun game but a learning tool.

Here is a link to a great video series on tactics and how to utilize them in the game. It was written and created by a guy who I believe was an actual officer in the infantry or something. He really knows his stuff and he knows how to make it work in the game.
