And discovered my long awaited copy of Bruno Schmäling's new book "Royal Prussian Jagdstaffel 30 ". It's absobloodylutely marvelous. It has been 50 plus years in the making, based on interviews and journals of pilots long since gone West, along with the efforts and contributions of some of the giants among Great War aviation historians, and of course the archives. Hopefully, more titles to come, if this one does well. Don't walk, run over to your nearest source and get yourself a copy !
Cheers

The book should be "a hammer", as we say here (in German, of course biggrin ).
The colour infos alone, remembered and worked out by the real WW1 flyers with colour pens
and paintbox with Bruno - after years of having only b/w photos...!
(Hysterical breathing noises; faint, thud!!!...)

MACHINE GUN FIRE: CAMBRIN by ROBERT GRAVES (September 25 1915)

The torn line wavers, breaks, and falls. 'Get up, come on!' the captain calls 'Get up, the Welsh, and on we go!' (Christ, that my lads should fail me so!) A dying boy grinned up and said: 'The whole damned company, sir; it's dead.' 'Come on! Cowards!' bawled the captain, then Fell killed, among his writhing men.
