"Right now, Westworld is just at the pilot-order stage. But with Hopkins on board and a high-powered team behind the camera (executive producers J.J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, Bryan Burk, and producer-director Jonathan Nolan), the project has strong odds for a full series pickup."
So essentially if the HBO execs like what they see with the pilot episode, it will be promoted to a regular series (ie 10 episodes per season). This does not seem to be a mini-series at all like John Adams or Band of Brothers.

I'm sure it will be chock full of robot babe sex. True Blood is over this season, so they'll need some new skin.

Yes, but will the robots have carpeting or bare floors?
With Hopkins signed up, it's pretty much a done deal. Even if they are iffy on the pilot, HBO won't turn down Hopkins because it would make it tougher for them to sign big name stars in the future.

This idea could have legs. If you remember, Westworld was just one of many worlds inside the park. They could do episodes centering around ancient Rome, Pirates, or even prehistoric times. Could be good if done right...but I guess you can say that about anything.

I never cared for the Yul Brynner original. I don't know, it seemed kind of hollow to me. Just left me flat.

The Jedi Master Like a halibut? I had no idea just how many movies have been based on Michael Crichton books until relatively recently. I had never even heard of him until Jurassic Park came out (the film).

I had no idea just how many movies have been based on Michael Crichton books until relatively recently. I had never even heard of him until Jurassic Park came out (the film).
Crichton broke out (for me at least) with the movie The Andromeda Strain, a couple of years before Westworld. Caused me to read several of his books in the early 70's (most of which didn't translate well, into movies). As a complete aside/gee-whiz, in the 70's I would always subvocalize his name as "krickton." A few decades later, I had a boss with the same name and found it to be pronounced "cry-ton."
