Cooked in beer with onions and sauerkraut, then finished on the grill, just long enough to make the outside slightly crispier.

No i meant what method of heating them, boiling, frying, in oven etc. I don't have a grill and wouldn't do anything fancy just to cook them smile

Eh? I'm presuming you mean either brat or wurst means fry in German? But as I don't speak German I wouldn't know that smile thanks anyway.

Or you can just put the brats in a microwave and make every dead Bavarian roll in their grave. biggrin

Yes, "Braten" means "Frying".

I prefer them off the grill.

You want Bratwurst? I give you Bratwurst!!!

yep

These are actually French Merguez, spicy lamb/beef sausages originating from North Africa with a bit of Dijon mustard. Was just about to prepare my lunch when I read this thread.

Fry them in a pan or grill them.

Tasty!

Grill is ok, but I really prefer the cast-iron frying pan. I put just a little water in the bottom, brown both sides.

True. It's hard to mess it up, no matter what method you use. It's gonna be good.

I think that any sort of sausage benefits from being grilled. The fat runs off and the skin crisps nicely. Bratwurst is OK but we have a very limited selection of German type sausage over here.

My favourite is cumberland sausage or better yet homemade moose sausage with a bit of garlic in the mix

That sounds really good! I'll have to try it some day if and when I ever visit Canada.
