What's the best way to cook bratwurst?

Cooked in beer with onions and sauerkraut, then finished on the grill, just long enough to make the outside slightly crispier.

The name kinda gives it away..... (fry it in a pan). Eh? I'm presuming you mean either brat or wurst means fry in German? But as I don't speak German I wouldn't know that thanks anyway.

You want Bratwurst? I give you Bratwurst!!! These are actually French Merguez, spicy lamb/beef sausages originating from North Africa with a bit of Dijon mustard. Was just about to prepare my lunch when I read this thread. Fry them in a pan or grill them. Tasty!

Grill is ok, but I really prefer the cast-iron frying pan. I put just a little water in the bottom, brown both sides.
