The Unbearable Lightness Of Being* - that's what I just felt during my first mission with Jasta 23b in WOFF.
I had made a skin which I liked, when I saw it ingame for the first time.
Then I noticed two Nieuport 24 sneaking up on us from behind, and shot one of them down.

And then, on returning, I found a BEA-TI-FUL-LY situated airfield in a valley at Jametz - a very nice work,
Winder!

It was a real recovery from the serious strain in the DiD Campaign - I shamelessly used Labels,
and it was a real joyride.

No shame in using labels IMO, Olham. On a flat LCD monitor, not using labels is a hugely unrealistic disadvantage to situational awareness that is unrealistic.

My aging, tired 48 year old eyes need a little help to be able to stay competitive. old_simmer

If you're a young fellow, by all means turn off the labels.

Very nice skin, btw!

Olham;

I must agree with Adger and Corsaire, that is a nice skin and you do have the talent!

As for the use of Lables, they may hinder realism, but I have found them recently useful in identifying airfields that are not on Lou's maps and so I am slowly adding them in.
It is also fun to take note of who may be flying the craft of a particularly talented opponent. Some of us may be really good at identifying Jasta's by paint schema's without the use of labels and others benefit by them.

Everything has it's place and use and we all fly with varying skills so there is no reason to feel shameful in using labels. We all probably aspire to flying totally realistic mode. Some will get there faster than others. That being said you can always find a valid reason for using lables and they have their place.

Haha, yeah, isn't he?

Robert, I have "serious campaigns" (like the DiD Campaign is) where LABELS and other stuff is forbidden.
But then it is also nice from time to time, to have it easier-going.
And for you, it may help you over the time, to learn to identify the Jastas better.
Some had very distinctive paintjobs, like Jasta 18, which first had an overall fuselage painting of Vermillion red and Prussian blue,
and later Vermillion red and white. Other Staffeln unfortunately share their hallmarks, like Jasta 12 and Jasta 32 (I think it was),
which both had a black tail plane.

Hahaha, thanks, corsaire! I'll remember to remind myself of that as I slip on my glasses with progressive lenses and look into the mirror at a full head of silver hair.

At least my joints only creak occasionally! hahaha

I am 65 now and have 'plastic eyeballs' - no, not contact lenses but I had a cataract op which replaced my old natural lenses with plastic ones. I had been short-sighted from the age of 7 and I wish I had had this op a long time ago - I actually had it at about age 62. Ok, I now need glasses to read but I get those cheepo ones from the chemist or pharmacist. They cost about 10 bucks but don't last long being made in Hong Kong or points east.

But I can drive a car without glasses for once and watch the tv etc. But to fly WOFF I need the glasses. I have different strengths for reading, reading in bed which is closer and operating the pooter.

And I don't have all that hassle (and expense) of contacts. And the multifocals I used to have were horrendously expensive.

What happened to our hill at Jametz?
First I thought I had landed on the wrong airfield - but LABELS confirmed: I was at Jametz.
But I didn't recognise the landscape behind our tent hangars anymore - the hill was gone!
Any ideas what might have happened?

Only occasionally? At last count I have had 22 broken bones including a broken neck, 3 ruptured disks, 5 bulging disks, and 4 surgeries. I creak in my sleep! It only took me 59 years to do it but by God I am still up and mobile. Well, most of the time.

Either that, or developers are moving in with plans for condominiums, parkettes, and muti-lane highway... oh, and maybe a Tim Horton's as a canteen for the local pilots! biggrin

I hope to reach 92 years of age next month and have been wearing glasses for over 60 of them.By now the lenses are like the bottoms of beer bottles, but like corsaire I can read without them.I use reading glasses for WOFF and use Labels and TAC. I wouldn't object if the Devs put Neon lights on the wings of enemy aircraft.Cheers to you all and I wish all of your teams could have won the World Cup.
