It's hard to tell what your speed really is, other than getting a lot of figures and averaging. Even then with temporary speedboost like Comcast does, you never quite know. Depends a LOT on the server. The default server they chose for me first, vs manually choosing Dallas, both from here at my desktop.

Bay Area, I'm guessing Google Fiber, FF? Must be nice. I'm back at my "more normal" speeds of 0.4 Mbps down/ 0.42 Mbps up again. Google fiber can't come to the Triangle soon enough to give the crooks, criminals, and scam artists at Time Warner a firm, swift kick in their collective a$$es.

No offense wheels but those are pretty crappy speeds! So true, but they are better than dial up which is my only other option. Wheels

Uverse upgraded their service, charging no more than they were before:

A lot of fast speeds here! I have Comcast internet...and while I have actually hated Comcast in the past for their crappy TV service and support, I've been happy with their internet service. I originally paid for 25 down and 6 up but then they upgraded everyone to 50meg down for free. They must have done another free upgrade because I notice I get 100mb down at times...so I'm not complaining. My speeds are pretty average by today's standards...but I think I have everyone beat on ping: 2ms...you can't get much faster then that. I know that's more or less just proximity the the nearest hub and doesn't matter much.

Just got a FREE upgrade from my internet provider. Before my download speed was something like 10 Mbps Im always surprised to see year old OPs resurrected! Nice upgrade Kodiak! I just want to clarify that contrary to the OP, I dont like www.bandwidthplace.com anymore. OOKLA Speedtest still seems to be king of broadband internet testing. (I think)
