I used to think that OOKLA’s www.speedtest.net was the best global broadband speed test until I tried using it on my Android tablet. On the tab it was sketchy at best and sometimes it just stopped working between DL and UL phases.

I'm thinking www.bandwidthplace.com seems to be the better solution for all devices.

[by all means, flaunt your bandwidth here! smile ]

*EDIT one year after my OP and I'm no longer a fan of www.bandwidthplace.com. OOKLA reigns supreme. Just sayin'.

That's pretty darn fast thumbsup
Edit: I see Tigerwulf is getting 90Mbps. Wow.

I'd like to get away from Telstra but there's not much choice outside of the cities.

The Ookla result is more accurate as it reflects the download speeds I get from a fast server - 125Mbit/s = 16MB/s

I ran the Bandwidth Place test several times but it still shows my connection as being about 1/3 slower than it actually is.

Yeah I thought the same thing Pielstick. When downloading from a decent server or from steam I get the speed shown by speedtest rather than Bandwith Place.

I'm moving at the end of the month.... to a place where I can only get a 1.5Mbit/s connection.

Really gonna miss my current connection sigh

Naunton Beauchamp Worcestershi...
It's lovely living in rural England but:

I have also had to install a booster/repeater to get a cell signal.
According to the 'Fast Broadband for Worcestershire' site latest;
whose is the only exchange in the county it seems not to be fibre enabled? guess frown

Bandwidthplace doesn't reflect my actual speed

Speedtest shows my actual speed

I dont know how to get the image to show
But my Upload is faster than some DL speeds

This is what $80.00/mth gets you w/Satellite (+ 1GB daily bandwidth limit except 2AM - 7AM)...

I'm sure mine will be on the low end (if not the lowest), it's just the price you pay living in the rurals. But don't pity me, I accept the tradeoff and never was an online gamer anyway, even with Broadband. Besides, PC computing in general is heading in a direction that I cannot follow (like Padmé told Anakin at the end of SW: Episode III).

Taken about a week ago...

Now, for those of you living in the sticks with real high-speed, yeah I envy you. smile

[edit]

I thought the above was pretty low, and realized the wife was recording the max allowed onto the DVR while watching something in HD...with UVerse, the same bandwith gets split to provide everything.

So here it is without the TV recording stuff and all of them off:
