Hey all!

This is my first time posting here. I have played LB2 for quite sometime now and have a few questions.

Can I get a higher resolution than 640x480? If so what files do I need to modify to do this?

What language is LB2 written in? Being that I am a programmer, it looks like it uses C. If so is it C++ (which it seems to be) or something else? Also, was the source code ever released? What development environment should I use if modding? I currently use Visual Studio 08,10,12,13. Would I need to go to something like Eclipse to mod this game?

Finally, are there any active LB2 Squadrons?

Just answered my own question for resolutions. I modified different files to pickup the 1024x768 resolutions. Will give it a go in a few.

Hi Houndhell,

The only sure way that we were ever to get screen resolutions higher than the default 640x480, was to force a higher resolution through a glide wrapper and run the game in 3DFX mode.

If you think that you've discovered how to hack to a higher resolution by tweaking the .cfg or .ini files in the game's install folder, you'll be sadly mistaken (unless you did something we didn't).

The game's source code was never released. A few programmers have come by over the years but they were never able to 1) do anything because of no source code and 2) get this dying community interested enough to start anything.

No active squadrons as far as I'm aware.

It is sad that the source code hasn't been released. I personally think that LB2, if updated a little bit (not a lot mind you) graphically, and had a few more campaigns in different regions with some net code updates, the game could stand up pretty well. I have downloaded the TRE converter packages you have on your site and looked at them. Hopefully I can figure a few things out by decompling the DLL files within the LB2 directory and the unpacked TRE files.
