I am interested in getting my card upgraded. Thinking GTX770 or 780 and that would be from my current 460. Any thoughts on this from anyone, is now a good time, as in are Nvidia ready to announce next gen yet etc.
From following the AVSIM HW forums off and on, I think current wisdom for FSX is the 780 would be the better card for FSX and P3D, the 780Ti being the best if you can swing/justify the extra cost.
Personally I think that while the 780 and 780Ti are fast enough that you'll likely see better performance over a 770, it won't be ENOUGH of an increase to justify the higher price tags. To pay another $100-200+ for 10% more speed is IMO a poor trade off.
I've got a factory OC'd 770 that cost me $300 ($200 if you count the $100 I made selling my 570) and it breezes through everything right now.
Granted I've got a single 1080p monitor, so if you drive 2-3 or higher resolutions the 770 may NOT be enough come next year, but for my setup it's more than fast enough for every new and old game I've got.
