I hope we reach Germany! we, French, still have an old grudge with Germany (1982) when the they got away with murder (Shumacher's unpunnished aggression on Battiston)...

I just hope that we have successfully passed the "curse of the second game" on to Italy! The last tournaments always had us playing great in the first game, loosing or tying in the second, which lead to anxiously sweating through the third game.

I could very well live without that suspense, thank you very much. smile

BTW, Harald Schumacher apologized to Patrick Battiston in person later, and even got invited to his wedding.

Told you Argentina would be mediocre. Iran deserved to win for sure, just a lucky strike and we scored.

Pathetic performance from Argentina. It's sad it all comes down to a player that saves the day.

Today Argentina played worst that against Bosnia.

Well, now it's time to bet what team kick us out on next round or quarter final. cuss2

Ghana made a great game. See? This is what I was talking about when I said that big teams were not delivering. Germany was in a very bad situation at some points of the match. This is not the Germany I remember, they would never have trouble with a team like Ghana.

This is no longer the 90s.
Most Ghana players play in european teams.

Both team could have won today.

Again our defence is questionable though.

The match could have gone both ways. In the end, the 2:2 draw was a just result. Kudos to the team of Ghana who showed sufficient tactical acumen in the first half to prevent an effective game to the German team's strength. At the same time the German team showed fighting spirit to even out the score after losing their initial lead. A fair match from both sides with no serious fouls (and no diving drama queens either). Ghana exposed some weaknesses in the German defense. All in all however the second half was very enjoyable to watch.

I knew it! They pull the same crap in every tournament. First game great, second game horrible, third game a close victory, but then on to at least the semi-finals.

Germany didn't find into the game, played way too static, and missed most of their chances. Lahm was not playing good (just like against Portugal). Bringing Schweinsteiger was more than necessary, he brought stability, mobility and fresh ideas to the German game.

Lw needs to rearrange the defense for the next game against the US. And please leave zil on the bench! Schrrle would be much better on the right wing.

Yes, a very open group G , considering Germany is unreachable (and that's only theoritical, with their last draw against Ghana), every team has still its chance, with the USA taking the lead jawdrop or coleading if a draw and Portugal one foot or both in the grave if a draw or losing...ouch !
