They formed a Great Britain side for the London Olympics. Giggsy was captain I do believe. Only English and Welsh players were in the team I think.

Is the end.
Now England need that Italy defeat Costa Rica and Uruguay on his next two games. And England must defeat Costa Rica A tie between Costa Rica and Italy it would be the end for England.
Tomorrow we'll see in what shape Costa Rica is really in. Even though they defeated a (then) weak Uruk-hai in the first game, Italy should be more than able to win. Against the Uruks as well. England also has the potential to win against Costa Rica. So all is not lost for England (yet). Well, a new "SURPRISE" so far. Costa Rica 1 and Italy 0. And so far doesn't look very good for Italy. But there is still time.

Italy will have to fight for 2cd with Uruguay.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Well that was short and not particularly sweet!
Now who to root for in the absence of England?
That Farrow bloke you executed today, are you sure he's dead? Well I chopped his head off, that usually does the trick. Yes, don't get clever with me Baldrick. I just thought you might have lopped off a leg or something by mistake. No, the thing I chopped off had a nose.

Swiss goalie doesn't seem to have the chops... today.
Well, except for that PK stop. :P Always said he was great goalie.
Nutmegged. I'll stick with my earlier.

The Swiss players never got their heads into game mode, then lost their key defensive player early on, which seems to have neutralized the defense alltogether. All went downhill from there.
After getting the third goal, I would have pulled back and tried to prevent even more French goals. Goal difference can be a deciding factor after the third game. Instead their constant attacking left them wide open for counter-attacks.
Giroud was IMO one of the key factors for France's great performance today.

Why men throw their lives away attacking an armed Witcher... I'll never know. Something wrong with my face?

Relief sigh and satisfaction for the serious and dedicated game (till the last minutes)...seems the Drama Queens times are over !

LOL what's the point of a wall? In this case ? just hide the ball motion so the goalkeeper has less time to react !

too bad the referee didn't let the last attack to end... ;-) maybe he got some pity for the Swiss players.

This has been a great tournament so far. I've been watching the World Cup since '82 and I can't remember a better one. Lots of goals being scored, and plenty of late goals, substitutes scoring, and all that leads to exciting matches and comebacks. Add to it the fact that there have been so many surprises and this is shaping up to be one the best WC's ever don'tcha think?
Congrats to Costa Rica. I love it when teams like this do well, and it does no harm to CONCACAF's less than stellar reputation. Who would have looked at this group at the start and guessed Costa Rica would top it? Great stuff.

I agree with you DBond, best tournament for ages, really enjoying the open play from even teams like Honduras and Ecuador who are fighting hard to win it even though they lack the stars. Huge congrats to Costa Rica, they really had their tactics right for Italy and Pirlo! Top of the group, who would have predicted that, very nice. Italy vs Uruguay survival match should be terrific. France and Benzema continue to impress too.
