I have found out in a very short time that 90% of the people kill on sight (KOS). I was up at the northeast airfield and I saw two guys ride up on bikes. I ask if they were friendly and told them that I see them. One guy got off his bike, knelled down, looked up at me and started firing. I returned fire, I think that bought me some time and I got up and ran. Don't know where they went or what they did, but I wasn't going to stay around and find out. I'm lucky that none of his shots hit me. Note to self, I need to get a better gun, I had a HK416, but they were about 375-400m away. man, I've had some fun times so far.

Yes it is known! Better to remain hidden and only trust the people you know.

I've got a bad feeling about this.....

This is the mod version? Otherwise I didn't know there was a 416 and Hummers in the SA version...

It becomes a vicious cycle after a while. You start off with a semblance of humanity and then you get popped a few times by the KOS crowd and pretty soon you have become one of them...out of necessity.

Sometimes you also have to be careful of seemingly innocuous people who approach and strike up a conversation. One guy came up to me (unarmed) asking if I had any morphine. While I was trying to figure him out his buddy flanked and shot me. Wounded but not dead, I returned fire and dispatched him. The unarmed guy keyed his mic on gamechat asking his buddy why he fired. I distinctly remember you cannot hear anything once you are dead. He was ostensibly pleading to his friend but moving towards his body and started kneeling down to pick up his comrade's weapon. I put a bullet into his back for his troubles.

There had been many occasions where I stalked people silently and left them be without them being aware of my presence. There had also been occasions when I stalked them and killed them.....just because.

It's the mod, not SA, I'm playing Overwatch now as more people on on the servers then regular DayZ.

That is one thing that I get nervous about is being nice to people and they stab/shoot you in the back. I've done the same thing a few times myself, stalk people.
