I still listen to stuff that was just released. The caveat is that it was just released by artists I've been listening to for years already, like the latest Foo Fighters or Green Day albums.
I'm hard pressed to think of a group that started after 2000 that I listen to, other than recombinant bands like Velvet Revolver or Audioslave that formed post-2000 but consist of new mixes of pre-2000 artists.

Pretty often for me, but then a large part of what I listen to these days is classical and jazz type music. Some of this is recent performances and recordings of obviously older material.
Rock music has just about completely faded from my interest. For whatever reasons, I just cannot seem to stand it any more.

As one of the younger guys here, I usually am up to date with most of the more recent stuff I'm hearing- problem being mist of the radio stations I can pick up in this area are complete and utter garbage, but that's a topic for a separate thread. I'm very picky these days about the hip-hop artists I'll listen to, and when it comes to EDM, I like a lot of it, but a lot if the newly popular stuff, especially if it's just sampling a bunch of other songs, a la Girl Talk, it just annoys me. Country, I've pretty much given up on- too many songs that all sound *exactly* the same.

You mean it's all female lead singers who sound like Lady Antebellum?

Fortunately, folk and bluegrass have very robust followings here, and a lot of younger artists are doing some really cool things with the genre. Here's a couple of local area artists I know:

I might be getting on a bit but I tend to listen to quite alot of contemporary bands. Probably the best I've seen this year are Crossfaith- brilliant live and I really rate the rhythm section
Another Japanese band I like
A couple of UK bands that I think are worth watching out for
a couple of years old, but these guys always put a smile on my face
Charts became irrelevant to me in '77

Panzer's "you know you're old" thread got me thinking about the most recent music I am still listening to, and I found out that I have stopped at around 2006-ish.
Anyone still current with the charts?
I have sat radio and I listen to an alt rock station that plays lots of current music. There are lots of good songs out there if you look for them.
Broken Bells The Shins Franz Ferdinand Muse Foster The People Electric Guest Portugal the Man Foxygen Dr. Dog Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros MGMT Norah Jones Artic Monkeys King Khan & The Shrines and more.....
A lot of good unique music is still out there sure it might not be the type you're into or the unique of yesterday but its out there. I've really been getting into a lot of what would be considered alternative or adult alternative the last few years. And whenever I can't find something new I go backwards in time and discover something while not new to the world is new to me.

Went to see these guys last summer, err, no, wait, it was the summer before; anyway, it was great! It's new, it's old, it's out on the bleeding edge of the audio universe (and do check out @ 36:20 for the guest stepping out):
Paraphrasing Townsend, I may be old, but I'm not listening to boring retread music. In two weeks, Medeski Scofield Martin and Wood, and Charles Lloyd, at the jazz fest.
