So I found this Contact Vector up on kickstarter and decided to back it. They have a short demo up showing the very basics of the game. Looks like it will be a nice space fleet strategy game without the resource gathering mumbo jumbo.

It sounds like a larger scale, more open, Nexus the Jupiter Incident game. That's a very good thing in my book.

The game creator seems to be very active on the kickstarter comments forum. Another plus. I also like how they intend to make electronic warfare an important part of the game. Somewhat like submarine warfare with missiles and lasers smile Tried the demo and it appears that ramming capital ships is a valid tactic also.

That would be a very good thing indeed.

Before the part where you get shields and it was just you in random situations it felt like commanding the enterprise or something on a dangerous mission. I love when ships are modeled to a higher fidelity than "box that shoots and has hit points"

I tried out the Contact Vector demo, was there a manual for it I missed somewhere? I wasn't totally sure what all I was doing, or what all I could do for that matter. It looked pretty, but beyond that I was kind of confused.

No manual. The demo is pretty simple really. There are groups of opposing ships in the sector, you maneuver them to attack each other. You lay down waypoint orders along the ships path of travel, not very intuitive. You just have to experiment a bit to get the hang of it.

No ai in the current demo, so you are basically fighting against yourself. By the looks of it, I doubt that the kickstarter is going to be successful, but it may end up on steam greenlight.
