Great, I just let a first year literature student read my script. Which, all directors and writers who've reviewed it deem violent.
One writer and director in the U.S. even commented that producers will never allow a certain scene depicted to be shown on screen.
I'll check with her in a few days to see if she's psychologically traumatized.

College is rapidly becoming a place where parents can pay tens of thousands of dollars to have someone teach their children to scream incoherently when presented with something they with which they disagree.

In a recent discussion on this someone said it very well... today's college-age population (and certainly some older people too) want to live in an ever expanding comfort zone, which is never to be left.
Since people only grow in character when they leave that comfort zone, the results are going to be pretty ugly. Really well said.

So, pretty much every thread in PWEC? Yeah, pretty much. Hardly. The detractors of the PWEC forum are generally those who have their pet political theories skewered by factual debate, then they go whine elsewhere that those who visit the PWEC are knuckle dragging morons.

It's getting bad in the military, the new kids coming in are just horrible, not like when I joined in 1999.

Plus they won't stay off my lawn.
Every new generation sucks and is going to lead to the end of society. Even the ancient Greeks complained about those darned teenagers who lack proper respect for the values of hard work and responsibility.

Yea, I tend to have a hard time caring about stories that may fall astride my own ideas any more. What am I going to do about any of it? If enough people to matter were thinking the same as I may on such a topic, would I likely be thinking there was any problem?
No. (!)
Outside of a more rigidly structured society, where we think and live as we are taught by elders, this is the norm. Everybody new coming up knows best how they want to live. Their parents, and their old ways, are a bunch of squares. Or whatever kids call them these days.

I also wouldn't get upset over dumb policies and propaganda at schools and universities. Kids can spot BS when they see it. From Blood on the Highways to Reefer Madness we all rolled our eyes and pretended to nod in the affirmative to just get on with the day, knowing when things said were just unworkable in the real world.
Heck, I remember when we watched those ancient Driver's Ed scare films and the teacher warned us ahead of time that they were graphic - we all perked up because it meant that it would at least be somewhat interesting. Think it would be any different in a college classroom?
"This semester's reading includes sections that might disturb some with graphic violence, sexual content including unwanted sex, racism, and offensive language." I can't think of a better thing for a professor to say to get his students to do something other than skim it enough to be able to pass the tests.
Professors also struggle to come up with something unique that will show their status as instructors that encourage the sort of critical thinking they believe is correct.
Transgender roles in American Literature is a really neat way of spending a lot of time examining why Tom Sawyer elected to put on a dress as a disguise, including why it was that a boy dressing as a girl merited no more than an admonition that he hadn't done better gender transformation research back in 1876.

We were dining out the other night.
My wife and I and our children and our parents in law.
This guy at another table made a big fuss because he didn't get his bread with his drink after he placed his food order.
The restaurant was really busy at the time and the waiter got busy and forgot about it.
They do bring you the bread while you are waiting for your food but each waiter/waitress in there has at least 10 or more tables to deal with.
There was no need for this guy to make a fuss; all he needed to do was flag down his waiter or another server and politely ask if he could get some bread while he was waiting for his food.
The manager of the restaurant comped his entire meal: appetizer, salad, entree, dessert, drinks.
It was easily a $70 meal.
If I was the manager, I would either had 1. Comp his meal but limited to the food he had already ordered. When he was told he was getting his meal comped. He ordered the appetizer and salad and alcoholic drinks and dessert; or 2. I would had kicked him out of the restaurant.
After all, you go to any businesses here, there is a sign that reads: "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" as long as their refusal of service is not based on race, color, religion, or natural origin.
In this particular case, the manager could had just told that idiot that he was being disruptive and noisy and a trouble maker and interfering with the other diners' right to enjoy their meal.
What's in the box? C'mon, what's in the boooox?
