LOL!
No wonder Hitler and Nazi Germany was doomed from the start according to the series.
The Bavarian Corporal was looking up to Mussolini as a role model.
I am Italian and even I have to admit that the Italian armies were pretty useless in World War 2.
All Mussolini and his armies were good at was to drag Nazi Germany into an unnecessary war of attrition and loss of valuable men and war materiel in North Africa and Greece and in the Mediterranean. The Italians had a damn good surface fleet though. Much bigger than what the Germans had in 1939 and just as advanced. Plus, Mussolini did manage to stay in power for 21 years which was longer than Hitler's reign.

Seeing the Commander in Chief kick off the three night series set just the right tone, very patriotic. Well done by POTUS. I admire the man. And the series was excellent. It certainly kicked the show off in a certain way but patriotic wouldn't be the word I'd use. In fact the show could have been better with all of the politician interview parts removed.

So basically what I'm seeing is they got together a good graphics artist, a couple boob politicians, a lot of borrowed footage, and a truckload of movie props and just kinda had at 'er?

That tank is a ww2 M3 Stuart! Why did they have to do that? I saw an episode on the History Channel where Lee Ermy was in a beautifully restored version of a French Renault, from 1918. So I know one is out there. And that's the tank used by the first U.S. tankers to see combat in France. If they had just gone to the trouble....

Always nice having the museum display signs there.
In fact, I recall guys telling me that during Desert Storm the plaques on the F-117s were talking about their historic role and how they were retired once the F-22 entered service.
Museum plaques don't need to wait for history to happen.

Okay, I have finished all 3 episodes.
It was alright but not something I would want to watch again.
Plenty of Historical inaccuracies like when they show Hitler shoot himself, there was no Eva Braun present.

I noticed that too. All in all, they could have done way better, there was a lot of simple elementary mistakes.

She was busy doing her Al Jolson "Mammie" routine in the room next door.

That is the American influence.
True and since the History Channel is owned by a US company and is a network that is predominantly shown in the US, it makes sense that they use those methods. Yeah, toward the end of the first episode: after 2 years of stalemate on the Western Front, here comes the Americans with Patton and McArthur breaking the stalemate and driving the German line back miles after miles in what is known as the 100 Days Offensive: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hundred_Days_OffensiveWhich leads to the end of World War I and totally victory for the Americans and her Allies. So all of a sudden, I get the impression that the Allies (Britain, France, Russia, Japan) and their million of casualties didn't matter anymore and it was all America from then on. The point of the show is the people it's portraying. In this case Patton and McArthur. That's why they focused on that.
