BREAKING: Alcon Entertainment has an offer out to Harrison Ford to reprise his role of Rick Deckard in its Ridley Scott-directed sequel to Blade Runner. Original screenwriter Hampton Fancher and Michael Green are writing the new one, which takes place several decades after the conclusion of the 1982 original.

Blade Runner 2 - The Quest for Spare Parts?

Or: Nexus 6 E - Enhanced Lifespan Edition.

Some films should simply be left alone, IMO.

Sequel takes place several decades after the first film? I guess that puts to rest whether or not Deckard is a replicant.

As for the film itself, I'll reserve judgement until I see it.

"A band of Nexus 72 posing as senior citizens have taken refuge in a retirement home in Florida. Only retired former Blade Runner Rick Deckard can stop them, by going undercover."

Is Wilford Brimley still alive? biggrin

He wasn't a replicant, I don't care what the writers were smoking and what they thought after the fact biggrin

Watching Blade Runner always makes me want a Chiappa Rhino for some reason...

He wasn't a replicant, he was a template for a replicant but didn't know it.

this is a perfect opportunity to make a feces-encrusted mockery of the Blade Runner franchise just as he did to Indiana Jones. Go for it! You will be safe from replicants and monkeys inside that refrigerator!

If they do another BR, they just need the universe, not Deckard.
I still think they should capitalize on the script screw up mentioning another, unaccounted for, replicant. An unintentional opportunity for a sequel.
However, I'd like to see off-world too.

It's a chance to begin again!

*I also want the game redone as a first person Deus Ex type game. I've still got it, 4 discs of awesome. LOL

Let's hope this sequel doesn't get "Prometheized". biggrin

Please. Just no. Harrison Ford kills every scene he's in, at least in the last few movies I've seen him in. He's like the exact opposite of charisma. Hell, he didn't even like Blade Runner in the first place, and was dismissive of it on multiple occasions.

I don't think Ford's acting ability has diminished. I think what has happened is that he's made poor choices concerning which projects he decides to do and also the fact that current movie audiences (ie people under 30) don't see him as a draw. They don't go see a film just because he's in it.

He didn't like making it, which isn't the same thing.
He did hate the narration, yes.

If I recall correctly, the Deckard narration was something that was insisted on by the studio, not Ridley Scott.

Yes. But Ford despised doing it. One reason I think why his voice over sounds so lackluster and even bored.

I loved the narration, what little there actually is. It made a better movie.
Ford can shut his face, he's an actor not a writer. Do as you're told! Say lines, pretend to be someone else and let the rest of us decide what works.
(just kidding, I'm a huge Ford fan)
Don't care what Ridley likes either. We've seen how faulty his judgment can be.

You may not care what Ridley thinks but he'll be the one directing the Blade Runner sequel and not anyone else.

As for the Deckard voice over it definitely seems to be a divisive issue for fans. Some love it and others hate it.

Personally I think the voice over is too much exposition.

If the script had been a bit better to convey those elements, or scenes added or written differently, it might not have been required. You don't get all of that without it, and developing the environment like it does adds to it all (IMO). Not to mention the classic "gumshoe" vibe it adds.

Lets hope he doesn't "Prometheus" the sequel.

Just curious if you've seen 42? I thought he did a good job in that.
