Yes, that's been mentioned several times, by several posters, in this thread.
I am sure they had a problem, and lost many of our registration records, and 'most' of us had to re-register, in 2001.

I'm certain.

I'm sure someone knows what happened, I remember getting a PM from someone, or read a sticky, where they apologized and advised everyone who had no record of their first registration, to 're-register'.

There must be someone here who knows the whole story, I wish I did.......

--------------------

Edit;
Also, I see several old names here, that I remember, helping me install mods, improve my computer speed, generally tutor me in my beginning years, learning on EAW, simming in general....they 'hooked' me.

Yeah.....the 'dealers'....lol.....I'm in it for thousands, too deep to get out now.... wink

Ha! Yeahfor me, Red Baron II and then Janes F-15 really set the hook deep. F-15 was what forced me to buy my first Voodoo card..then when Falcon 4 came outforget about itthe never-ending battle to buy better hardware commenced. (runs pretty good now 16 years later though thumbsup)

Kurt Plummer is still quite active I'm afraid, both under that name and others such as "M&S" on Eric Palmer's blog.

There's just no mistaking that writing style even if he /doesn't/ abuse the slash key as he once did.

Me too at Combatsim and like many others jumped ship when the word "Subscribe" was introduced.

The current poll numbers are really surprising to me. I had no idea so many people came here from Combatsim.

Yeah, well, I haven't read some of these names for over a decade.
Don't know where they're coming from, but it sure tickles my memory.
Brings back the old early 'EAW' days.....which IMHO really started Modding, when they released the code.
It was a match, that lit fires in guys that never went out.

Whoever did that, probably has no idea of the good he did, for so many people.
How many lives he changed......

Funny how one website folding makes another one boom...ok well perhaps not.

I can think of one website that is popular now after SimHQ.

Many simmers seem to have gone on to greener pastures. It is funny looking back at the old threads and seeing all those names that are long gone.

Flight simming is no different from any other hobby really. In my lifetime I've gone through several of them and eventually dumped them after I got bored. Comic books, baseball cards, plastic models, etc.

SimHQ is not a good place to discuss flight sims. Too much baggage, history and new owner lack of interest. More people play sims than ever before, but they don't come here in great numbers. The remaining few here either play 'forums' as their main game/hobby or just want to talk politics, guns and share nostalgia regarding their service - which is fine with me, but it's not a 'Sim HQ' for simmers under 60.

I'm not too sure about that, I just checked the flight sim related forums here and a lot of them are very active. It would be more correct to say that SimHQ is not an exclusive flight sim discussion website.

The online players have drowned out the voices of the offliners.
