Yah, that's me. I still have the Dell or the case anyway, none of the original components are in it. I rewired the front switches and installed an Asus Mobo a few years back. I don't use it but it is there for an emergency if my main rig crashes.

pretty much the case smile I came here during the great exodus as well. CSim has been free again for years but never regained its following. A number of my old EAW buddies are still there so I am a member now as well.

I know I was Jedi Master there like I am here, I just don't know if my posts there are still able to be seen anymore.
I left when it went pay and never looked back.

Wow…pretty good turn out so far! Thanks everyone for voting thumbsup

Maybe it's just a coincidence…but did the SimHQ re-register of 2001 happen at about the time all of us Combatsim refugees started storming the gates here? I know Combatsim went officially payware Jan 1st 2001. Those last days of December were pretty ugly over there with most folks saying they weren't going to stay and getting hammered for not wanting to pay $4 a month. Basically, the members made the forum the resource of information that it was…and their information was going to be held hostage for cash. Oh well..

@ Jedi

Here's a link to your profile posts…it only goes to 50 though. I look ay my old posts occasionally and it's a kick seeing my specs and seeing the names of members I used to talk with.

Interesting...I didn't realize I registered at CSim in 2/2000 as well, same month as here.

I do recall visiting both sites daily (although CSim had more traffic) until the pay hammer dropped.

You know, I think I vaguely remember this thread where I apparently got a chuckle out of Oleg himself:

Oh, and to prove my idea in the tarantula wasp thread is NOT a new one, my post at the end of this thread:

I started at CombatSim because of my interest in flight sims and then came to SimHQ later.

I started over at CombatSim and then began posting here as well after CJ pointed out the site. When CombatSim started charging I left. I couldn't see as a developer having to pay to post stuff which might encourage others to visit the site. Also posting on a site like SimHQ, where anyone could see, made it easier for the information to spread.

Don't remember if I ever post anything over there but I migrated to SimHQ too when they decided to charge for membership.

Started at the old Delphi Falcon site sometime before the Civil War :-)
As it fell into endless conflicts, I discovered Frugal's. It was the "sane" sim site, especially for all things Falcon. Had friends who published reviews at Combat Sim, so hung out there also. Later, SimHQ became the "sane" site, much calmer than the periodic flame wars that began to sweep through Frugal's. But Frugal's...Never the like of him and that era again!

I go way back, can't even remember how far. But a couple of severe computer crashes and losses, And I have had to re-register with a new password because log-on was automatic for so long that I could not remember what my original passwords were! Kind of the same situation I find myself in now.

According to the internets, I registered at CS on 29/11/1999, and here on 25/8/2000, but I'm pretty sure I was registered on SimHQ earlier than that. Stopped going to CS when they went pay. Most of my activity over there was on the Mig Alley forums - neat to see DBond here.
