Not sure if anyone else is getting this, but after 1.21 my frame rates have gone through the floor.

I used to get 50-60fps in air, and perhaps 30-40fps when near the ground.

With time compression to x4 I would still get 30-40fps and be able to look around in Spot View, open the map, etc. without problems.

Now I'm down to 40fps in air, less than 20fps near the ground, and at time compression x4 I'm down to 2fps! This means I can't look around properly any more, because it's a slide show.

I'm tempted to re-install the game, but wondered if this is just me or whether others are experiencing this too.

I won't post system specs, game settings, etc., because all was well previously, so I can't imagine it's a settings/spec issue.

No other hardware/software changes of note.

R

Seeing as you're also getting a fatal error, I would uninstall using the tool that OBD provides for this, then re-install with no mods and see how 1.21 performs then.

Ta, Slick.

What's this tool then?

Try 1916 and see if fps is better. Apart from possibly more 2 seaters around mostly in 1917 1918, nothing else can affect fps in 1.21 as there is no run-time code change. So maybe a driver/config/ something else if 1916 is slower than it was too.

Anyway try the uninstall reinstall see FAQ section 17) for how to do that.

FAQ is on our download page.

I'll try this today, Pol.

The FAQ doesn't make it clear how to uninstall and reinstall whilst retaining pilot records, campaigns, game settings, key mapping, etc.

It is perhaps a stupid question, but how should I reinstall without losing all this stuff?

Cheers,

R

I'm pleased for you, guys!

Are any of you running Aris' clouds mod by any chance?

It's the only mod I'm running, so I'm trying to eliminate this is as a possible cause. If none of you is having this problem with the clouds mod then it's likely not that.

I would just disable the mod by copying back the original "Weather" folder, but it's running so well for so long that I deleted the backup! Doh!

That's because we don't support that - a fresh clean install is the whole point of it. However you can try RW's WPFF Backup program (see user mods on our website). Check your setup works before restoring.

Mods are not supported by us remember if you still have a problem.

Also remember to setup your graphic settings in WOFF, and leave any mods out. Also as above make sure you don't have any graphics tweakers / custom setup.

When comparing fps at any time also make sure you use the same pilot/date/location/aircraft and other settings etc.

Fine, I will try that, but usually there is a way of retaining user files. I don't really want to have to do all the re-mapping again, and I don't want to lose all my pilots.

Yes, I know. That is clear.

None, not even Nvidia Inspector. WOFF is vanilla apart from Aris' clouds mod.

That was the case.

Wish me luck...

I have had OFF/WOFF hick-up in the past (for reasons unknown) and the only fix was a complete reinstall.

Remember, that OFF/WOFF is a complete mod on top of an old existing game, so these things sometimes just happen.

Read the read me with RW's program to check what it saves.

then as I say check your setup works before restoring
(of course if the error is to do with a config files you still have it).

I keep saying it but there is nothing in 1.21 to affect FPS except more 2 seaters up which may or may not affect anything (as there are less fighters too). We haven't been inundated with fps issues so see what program updated (maybe even windows update, or maybe your campaign is now getting heavier (large battle started whatever?)

After I did a complete reinstall a while back, I copied all the files (not sub-directories) in the main WOFF directory and saved a copy. When I have problems, I uninstall any mods, use the backup program, and then copy over the clean original files into the main directory. My assumption is that if something got porked, its a file in that directory.

So far, this has worked and it's a lot easier than doing a complete re-install.

The later the War goes on the bigger the FPS hit..the FPS hit between 1916 and 1918 is huge. Still during the busiest times in '17 '18 I'm usually about 28fps in cockpit..looking up it will jump to 40fps..however in 1916 I get upto 60+ FPS.

Thx to all contributors!

With help from OBD support the fatal error issue has been fixed via 1.22 (it was an 85 Sqn. database issue apparently), and interestingly the fps during the second mission back with my Jasta 11 campaign were fine again.
