I picked up CA in the sale, but I haven't the faintest idea on how to get started. I figured out what I could from the controls menu (switch weapons, shoot, move around w/the keyboard, etc) but that's about it...

On the map when giving commands, is there a way to click and drag to select many units?

The "Accelerator pedal" command in axis commands behaves weirdly. When using it in a T-80 or T-55, it seems to do nothing for about 80% of its travel, then a bit of its movement results in slight acceleration up to 8-12 KPH, then the remaining movement results in an immediate stop. If I find that 8-12 KPH notch and hold it steady, it starts slowing again unless I jiggle the axis back and forth across it. Is this normal? How is it meant to be used? Is it bugged right now, or is this normal?

What are the RADAR commands under the controls menu Targeting section for? I can't figure out what they do...

Thanks! Sorry, when I search for tutorials, etc all I can find is a vid on youtube showing how to make a mission in the mission builder to practice shelling stationary targets.

You cannot 'select' multiple units, but you can select a unit within a group and then set a path for the whole group to follow.

A guy posted a Combined Arms KB reference on DCS Forums in the CA section -- I can't get there from here to link, though.

I like to turn off auto transmission and use the gears instead. You can get stuck in the mountains,,, the M1-A1 has great engine power and will go about anywhere. Use the R key for cruise control so you don't have to hold down the W key. Use C autopilot to get back from a roll-over. Use H handbrake to stop from moving, like to shoot. I use the KB over the pedals... If you are driving a unit and want the rest of the group to head to where you are use the G key and mouse to point to a destination.

Many of the missions on the Hollo Pointe server have CA slots -- you can go in there and give it a try.

Not sure about the RADAR command. I use the ROE and Alarm State to control fire and radars.

Currently there is no Client option to control AI a/c in MP, but I hear that feature will be enabled in v128.

That makes sense. I'll search for the reference and see if I can expand my understanding of the controls. While I'm searching, can you tell me how to turn off the auto transmission? I didn't see that anywhere in the options, but that sounds like it would be really nice to be able to control that!

For the Hollo Pointe server, would they get annoyed if I noobed it up? I don't want to ruin a serious mission and wreck someone's fun...

Thanks for the info!

The auto tranny switch is in Options -- the tab on the far right, I believe.

Hollo Pointe is my server -- you are welcome to join it anytime. If the current mission doesn't have CA slots in it (I think it may not) then I'll try to switch it for one that does in a couple of hours...

Road To Persa is up -- that's a good CA mission, for red at least :-)

I have class after work today, so I won't get time to get on until around 10-11PM MST tonight, and then I have to turn in around midnight so I can get enough sleep for work.

I'll see if I can check it out tomorrow night, though!

Thanks!
