Been out of the loop for awhile - finally got a new machine and am starting to get back into flight sims! I had been anticipating this game when it was advertised back in 2010-ish, but am now skeptical due to the generally lousy reviews.

I know there have been several patches since the release. My simple question - is this game worth buying? Interested in some quick reviews.

Thanks!

Yes and for £10 it's ridiculously good. Ignore the reviews they were from the release when the sim was suffering a lot of problems.

It would be easy to argue that it is one of the best flight sims there is if not the best depending on what you like.

One thing I would say is it depends a little on what game play you like, it's best flown online in my opinion the AI isn't great but it's much better than it was. I believe it will be getting some love in the TF 5.0 patch in a few months time. The TF people have been working (for free) to turn CLOD in to the sim it was meant to be and in my opinion they've done a better job that if it was still in development by 1C as they've continuously returned to tweak the FM/DM etc, we used to wait for years for that in the original IL2.

Get it smile

100% worth buying, though as Emil says make sure you use the Team Fusion patches to basically make it a workable enjoyable sim.

While you're at it have a look at Battle over Stalingrad or 'BoS'. Currently in Alpha but it is a superb sim even in it's early state.
