CA could use some terrain better suited to it. Right now you feel like you're a mini camera on a giant model board most of the time.

The question is will those maps be available to us.
No. They are the basis of commercial contracts. In any event, they are minuscule and only suitable for CA and limited Helo Ops. I wont be too jealous then Thanks for the info by the way.

If that's where the money is, who can blame them? How about the people who already purchased Nevada from ED months and months and months ago and have not had our product delivered? Are we allowed to blame them or is not ever getting what you paid for selfishly not supporting the illustrious company enough?

I don't know I'd get the value of Nevada separated from the rest of A10C, but if ED offered $10 back to forfeit my rights to Nevada if/when it comes I'd take it. I find the company's inability to deliver slightly annoying but understandable; now less-palatable that I learn other customers are getting priority. The lack of caring about the breach of trust and even hostility toward those who have the audacity to dislike being misused is what's so nauseating.
Eh?

My understanding is that EDGE is a two pronged effort:
1: Better looking terrain (sharper mesh resolution, textures, more ambient life, etc)
2. Better overall engine optimization to leverage newer technology such as multi-core CPUs
And yes, it'll probably still drag modern systems to their knees when it comes out. In fact, I hope it does. By giving us such high end scenery options, the sim builds in some "future proofing."
In any event, I believe the DCS WWII folks are using EDGE for their new terrain, so we know it's tied to at least 1 consumer based effort.

When EDGE is released for DCS with its SDK we could possibly expect to see maps like that when people make addon maps.

Maybe that's why Nevada is taking so long, they are working on these commercial products first since that's where the $ is at. You can pretty much guarantee that that's what's been happening. It's already been acknowledged that EDGE is on v4 and is used in 3 separate commercial products. If that's where the money is, who can blame them? We seem to be a smaller and smaller community, aggressively demanding more and more expensively complex products that drive us deeper and deeper into niche territory... ...and then we refuse to buy them until they go on sale for $20. I wouldn't bother with us, either. I agree for the most part, but with DCS: World being on Steam now, I think the potential for this sim to grow is more likely now than ever before. I think if DCS: World's EDGE can start to compete with rendering engines like War Thunder's, that alone would get more people to try the sim out. That, and smart scaling for units in the game, so you can actually see them
