Microprose F15 III had to fight my way back with one engine out weaving though valleys, rolling over crests and turning into chasing fighters, to break their lock.
While I probably had loads of great moments in the early sims. That's my standout moment.
I had similar moment in a Thud in Wings over Vietnam. Aircraft was shredded, more warning lights than a Christmas tree and nursed it home and landed on 2 wheels. I probably saved screengrabs of that one.

Getting old and my memory is fading but the first time driving a tank in IL2 Great Battles in VR. I actually caught myself trying to pull myself out of the drivers hatch by the sides of the hatch opening. I'm a late comer to VR (just like I was to Trak IR) but that moment made me a believer.

Yep Pips. We've gone all high tech. I've complained a lot over time about flight sims not being as much fun as they used to be but this vr thing has really sucked me back in.

We did a missing man In Rise of Flight in memory of two VU members that passed away...
Among others, IIRC it was the first or second mission in Janes Apache Longbow 2 when I first peaked over a hill from the gunners seat.

I know this air general, but for me the best simming experience I've had in my decades of gaming has been the Grand Prix Legends leagues I used to run. Nothing before or since has risen to that level. Falcon 4 co-op campaigns come real close. But the GPL racing was the best experience I've had in gaming, and I miss it even today. I dare say I've not approached anything with an equal level of determination. Obsessive dedication to improvement. Those were the days

I also remember my best experience was multiplying Steel Beast 1 with a guy from this forum. One-on-one matches daily where I slowly and gradually rose and improved my skills from complete novice and "cannon fodder" to someone skilled enough to beat that guy few unfrequent times. Despite pretty rudimentary graphics, it was the best gaming experience for me never equaled by anything else before or since. Those were the days, indeed! :salute :

I had been playing European Air War for several hours after I first bought it and when I went to bed that night my mind was still playing the game in my dreams. In my dream my P-47 was being chased by a Bf-109 that was gaining on me very rapidly and to get away I did a Split-S. My mind was so involved with this reality that I literally rolled over from my back to my stomach as I did the Split-S maneuver in my dreams. I did this so quickly and violently that it woke me up from my dream and I started laughing since it was so ridiculous. I have never had anything like that happen since then but it is a fond simming memory.
When I first got Track IR I was flying IL2 46 and in the pacific flying a Corsair. I was at altitude and there were Zeros below. I was able to roll over while keeping sight and dive on them like an act of God repeatedly. I never got touched. I'll never forget that moment.
