The Finish by Mark Bowden, about the hit on bin Laden.

Not a fan of reading about that sumbitch Obama, but someone's gotta do it.

Not sure if you meant that or Osama? Either way, I am just picked up No Country for Old Men for my Kindle yesterday and may start into that.

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Finally started Rolling Thunder. I picked it when the free sale on Amazon was annouced over here. So far, really great book. You can tell the author really knows what he's talking about.

I need to read a recap of the first book before I jump into it.

wave reading Crimson skies Outline of the U.S. Air strikes in Korea. Some interesting stuff and human stuff. For example using a Mark XIII torpedo to destroy a Korean Dam while flying AD4 Sky raiders or Tiger Cats use to strafe gun emplacements. rofl

Finished Gates of Fire and The Afghan Campaign by Steven Pressfield, both were great and have me in an ancient warfare mood, started Greece and Rome at War by Peter Connolly from a previous recommendation here.

Just finished The Great King by Christian Cameron. The latest book in his Long War series about the struggle between Greece and Persia during the fifth century BCE.

If you´re in an ancient warfare mood don´t miss this series and his other one the Tyrant series.
That one is set in the time of the Wars of the Diadochi, the struggle of Álexander´s generals for supremacy following his death in 323 BCE.

A much as I enjoyed Steven Pressfield´s books mentioned here, Cameron took the ancient subject in historical fiction to another level imo.

My Harbinson binge continues as I completeted Revelation - more wordy than I remembered it but still a good read.

Now I'm finishing the Project Saucer Series with Resurrection - The author appears in a cheesey tongue-in-cheek cameo send-up of himself which is hilarious stuff.

I'd recommend the "Masters of Rome" series by Colleen McCullough for lovers of anicent history/stories. It covers from 110 BC to the rise of Augustus.

Reading 'The Vendetta' by Alston Purvis, about his dad Melvin Purvis and the public enemies era of John Dillinger, Pretty boy Floyd and Baby Face Nelson.

Fascinating true crime and the relationship between Purvis and his boss J. Edgar Hoover.

Great description of the failed raid at the Little Bohemia Lodge in Wisconsin where the G-men got a tip that John Dillinger and his gang were hiding out. When the Gmen rushed to the scene that night, they were met by 3 men coming out of the lodge, getting in a car and driving off with their headlights out. Turned out they were just drunk civilians, the FBI opened fire and killed one, wounded two; the Dillinger gang, inside, heard the shooting and fled out the rear, which was not covered because there was lake behind the lodge and they thought there was no escape route there...Baby Face Nelson fired off a few rounds before fleeing himself.
The movie 'Public Enemies', with this scene actually filmed there, was made to look like the battle of the Alamo with all the shooting going on.

anyway, interesting book

Finished "Rolling Thunder" yesterday, and started "Driving Like Crazy" by P.J. O'Rourke. I really enjoyed Rolling Thunder, but needed something a bit more relaxing to read right now.

Forgotten Soldier by Guy Sajer, young German trooper on the Russian front. Brutal! War is a meatgrinder.

Thanks Dervish, will try it next. Really enjoying Driving Like crazy as for now. It was the kind of book I needed now, good thinking hidden under tons of fun, with a great writing style.

In preparation for the DCS Cobra, I checked out Scarface 42 by Robert Robinson from the Kindle Lending Library. Also picked up Snake Pilot by Randy Zahn, on the same subject.

The average naval aviator, despite the sometimes swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy, and caring. These feelings just don't involve anyone else.
