I had this baby since 1988.

Everytime I go to the firing range, after I fire the first round, everyone stops and stare at me with their mouths wide open, eyes bigger than anything.

Like they never seen a gun before?

It's only a .44 Magnum.

What's in the box? C'mon, what's in the boooox?

Vienna, 2nd rock left.
Kind of the proverbial first person shooter gun.

Do you look at them and say ...
"Now, I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five?"

That would be the Smith & Wesson 29.

This is a Ruger Super Redhawk.

35 years?

You cousin had a Ruger Redhawk, then.

a box of .44 specials goes for like $27.00 and that's only 20 bullets in the box !

Is there anything of the target left after you shoot that hand cannon at it? biggrin

A co-worker has/had a .500 S&W revolver, I've only fired 1 shot through it but it was actually very controllable and not unpleasant at all. The trigger was definitely a little light for my taste, though not to the point of being unsafe. I'm having a hard time thinking of a more useless gun, though.

I don't.

I've seen my friends (and people at the range) who shot it that did.

Indoor range I take it? I used to get the same response when I'd take hot loads for my Ruger Blackhawk in .45LC to the indoor range. The pressure wave off that thing in an enclosed space is impressive. People would all be leaning out of their stalls like gophers poking out of holes trying to see wtf just blew up hehe.

I'm asking this out of sheer ignorance about revolvers...

A long barrel with that large caliber allows for (I guess) allowing gases to propel the bullet longer, with more rifling and therefore making a better chance of hitting. Right?
