Can I just apologize for being absent for so long. With everything that happened that year it was difficult to keep tabs on forums. I made a decision not to go looking here in case I got my head shot off and just focused on work.

For which I'm sorry.

That too. In 2011 it would have been a mercy. My new job is far removed from what I was doing back then, it was effecting my mental health and my family. Simply not far to them.

Someone advised me not to talk about the financial problems, everyone was hit pretty hard back then, I still have a roof over my head unlike some so I don't feel I've got anything to complain about. A lot of plans went out of the window. Everything is all good now. Since IndieGame The Movie came out it's quite fashionable to talk about the hours spent crying on the sofa or weeping into a large Latte. Not something I would do in public, seems humiliating :/

But we've tried to carry on regardless. I made a promise to Dave I intend to keep.

New post up

http://combathelo.blogspot.pt/

Wish them the best, and certainly will kick in some cash for the gunnery module, or do crowdfunding if that happens.

I wonder though if Flexman could talk a little bit more about the dynamic Afghan campaign - that really to me was the biggest selling point (both the force on force campaign and the COIN type one that was spoken about) of Combat-Helo. Is that the 'next step' after gunnery? The 'next, next step'?

Yes, wish them the best amd certainly will spend some money.
I guess we are many steps away from a campaign system.

There will be a post about the road-map in due course which will include a dynamic campaign. There will be a small mini dynamic mission creator in the training area. Essentially transitioning from A to B survival in a high threat environment.

We're not sure what to do with the Afghan map atm. It's in need of some TLC and looking a bit old. It was to host the COIN campaign but we've been talking about just using it for some varied front-line tank spanking as the Range map is not well suited for dynamic game-play. COIN requires space and a lot of hand editing which we don't have time for as there's a lot of finishing and polish to do. So COIN is on the back burner for now, but still on the menu.

Cool, thanks for the update - glad to hear the campaign is still an intention. And I say nothing wrong with some good old fashioned front-line tank spanking so why not use that Afghan map, even if it's old!

Wish you guys the best of luck, hope things go well for you all this year and in the future.

Forcefields. I'm really proud of those for some reason. Took 5 mins to animate. Not sure anyone will ever see em except me unless we go ahead and put the editor in. It's just a way to visualize where I put everything.

When Dave built the ranges, there's a bunch of static units already placed in the map. So it made more sense to throw in maps with vehicles and group mission objects by location, then association after the fact rather than fiddling with unit composition at the data level and (re)positioning them.

If that makes sense?

Forcefields are awesome.

Looks awesome.

Is there going to be an extensive training module (ala Longbow 2) to help get us used to the updated electronics on the AH 64. Compared to Longbow there is a lot more to learn.

And when are we going to get to preview it for the site biggrin
