That GCI thing is really interesting.

Especially this part, "transmit data to your plane"
Do they receive virtual radar blip on the radar screen or what?

There's a simulated GCI? That's an important doctrine difference to highlight. Hopefully ED adopts it so the experience is consistent between similar aircraft.

oh man that looks great. Although I'm sure after one or two times of starting up it'll be back to 'LWin + Home' for me.

Really looking forward to this one too, a full on study sim. Hoping it'll bring me back to the way I felt when the A-10c came out, really want to dive into it.

I don't see any way to avoid buying this on day 1.

And I know this is the wrong thread, but damn I can't believe how awesome it would be to have an F-4 modeled to that level to fly against the MiG-21 in...

I could probably just clear my hard drive of other sims at that point.

While the idea is good in theory, in practice the F-4 relied on its missiles and the DCS modeling of them would be such a focus that I think the forums would melt down.
I do want to see the F-4 some day, but there are literally a dozen possible models and if you want more than FC3-level it's going to take a lot of work for each one.

Historically, the MiG-21 relied on its missiles as well... not to mention every fighter but the P-51D presently flyable to any extent in DCS and/or FC. Inability to model radar and missiles 100% correctly has never stopped ED before :P

Heh. Good points.

Ok, let me have the F-4J model then, and just get it as close as you can for a release in, say, 1 year.

I'd prefer that than waiting 5-10 years for a "perfect" model. Of course, my opinion doesn't really count.

Well, TBH none of our opinions count. It's the opinions of the ones making the planes as far as what they think will sell well, what they can do, and what they want to do.

I'm not sure if I'd prefer a USN or USAF F-4, but I do agree a well done F-4 of any type would be welcome. An S model might be best as far as fitting in with the 80s/90s era of most of the current plane set (even if it's horribly outmatched dogfighting a 27 or 29) but I'd go for an E or J as well.

While I would like to see an F-4 someday, the F-105 would be a better choice for a new team. It's single seat, single engine, with a simpler radar set and an internal gun. The project could upgrade to the two seat Wild Weasel version after putting out the single seater.

I thought a 105 was in development, along with a 104. Unless one or both have been abandoned since?

104 was abandoned some time ago but apparently the 3D model was gifted to someone else.

105... I'd like it but can't remember for the life of mine if it was announced or just considered.

Well, upcoming models are announced with great fanfare but their demise has the volume of a mouse fart most of the time, so unsurprising I hadn't heard about the 104. Too bad.

An F-105, A-4, or A-6 would make an acceptable substitute for the F-4 if the F-4 can't be done.

I hope someone is taking notes!
