I purchased the add-on, because the support and the patches have been outstanding, and the add-on is fine in itself. However, content is extremely meager for the price, compared to WOFF itself and the skin-pack. First Eagles 2, an entire and quite good game, can be purchased for 'a few dollars more' and extra content for RoF isn't nearly as pricey. For myself, if this is going to be the going rate, I will demur and consolidate what I have and be glad of it.

I guess all of this depends on the individual... for me the price is to steep (sorry chaps) frown
To others who love the early war German stuff it may be just fine and worth it though...

One thing I would like to say is you are not only buying two aircraft but the squadrons, skins and campaign play associated with them.

We are not selling 'just aircraft' but all the campaign experience and immersion with the craft in the packs so that one can use the craft in the air war as they were historically in 1915/16.

There is a lot of work behind the scenes in each one of these packs - not just creation of two models and skins.

Hopefully that will become apparent when you play it.

Also adds the early war mixed 2 seater squadrons with their own Eindecker assigned - very cool stuff.

Also the main price which people seem to be comparing it to, is a bargain. FIFTY FIVE aeroplanes with brand new quality cockpits included. A totally fantastic WW1 AI experience never before seen in any WW1 simulator, amazingly detailed historical content (including 100s of real researched squads and Aces) and 1500 historically researched skins, some of the finest looking terrain, and a WW1 campaign system rivalled by no flight simulator one ever including 1915 - 1918.

So that's unfair to use that, to then say this add on is expensive. In fact the main product is far too cheap.

How much would 55 flyables cost in other simulators alone let alone all the above?

Lets remember you don't have to buy it. As I don't really fly early German planes I will give it a miss..well until I'm really flush or ask for it as a present. I will keep my eye out for future packs though.

I prefer to think about it as an investment in the future of the whole affair. Anyway, there's a piece of Gotha and Caudron and much more implied in this sum.

Honestly I think the price is very fair. Perhaps as Pol says, folks have been spoiled by the bargain price of the base game. As someone who uses FSX, the price is a lot less than I have paid for most addons there with a lot more content too.

This is by far the best flight simulator I have ever played so I'm willing to put some money into my hobby. In fact this is the exact game I have wanted ever since I first completed my first play through of 'Wings' on the Amiga back in the early 90's.

Bought the pack straight away but I won't start a career as an E.I pilot until my current RFC career pilot has 'gone West'! Looking forward to it though. So much to do in this game.

Bought the addon, quite happy to spend £18 for the support etc..as a comparison the other sim has a Strutter for sale for $11.5 at the moment so IMO this was sold pretty much at the going rate..not cheap but not expensive either.

It's not all that expensive when you consider how many hours of enjoyment WOFF can offer you for years to come. Besides, it's not like there are dozens of other WW1 flight sims available filling this niche market.

I consider this also an investment in the future of WOFF. There are still so many aircraft and other things that could be added to the sim.

My first impression was, umm, a bit pricey,...after some more time thinking about it, well, support for the best ww1 sim came to my mind, so, as soon as I get home after work, you have another buyer guys smash

Imagine initial WOFF would cover all squadrons and so far available AC from about autumn 1916 on until the end of the war. No Aviatik, no Eindeckers, no early BE2c, no BE12, no Morane, no Nieuport 11 etc. You would of course say, wow, cool etc. and gladly pay for it, and you would buy it. And you would say, hopefully there will be also some coverage of early airwar etc.

Now imagine then there would be a fokker scourge addon with all squads which cover the early airwar and with it apropriate missions and all additional AC. Various Eindeckers, Aviatik, Nieuport 11, Nieuport 16, BE2 and BE12 variants, Morane. You would say cool, that's great, cool stuff, will gladly buy it etc. and you would buy it.

So actually some are punishing the Dev's because they already have implemented a ton of early war AC in the initial WOFF. Would they have left those early AC out in the first place, nobody would complain. You would buy WOFF and then the Fokker addon and be happy because there are a ton of additional AC. Actually the same price, same results, but you would think more of getting something for your money. Now think about it what you ALREADY got with WOFF, and what great piece of history you might add with the Fokker scourge addon. Just my two eurocents.

I'm not 'punishing the Developers' in any way buy not buying this pack... what a ridiculous thing to say!
I have marginal interest in that period of the air war. Next someone will want to start a witch hunt for all those disbelievers who have not followed like sheep! Jesus H Christ!

We could do with less forum drama here.

If somebody doesn't want to buy the pack, that is their right. But there's also no need to call those who have bought it sheep.

Hasse, I don't live in a politically correct world, sorry... wrong man.
I was making a point, to show what a ridiculous comment had been made.

Can't see to have mentioned your name. I said "some" people. Of course not everybody. Not everybody is interested in early airwar. That's cool, and that's why addons are optional. I, for my part wouldn't be interested in Snipes and Fokker EV if that would be an addon. The game will also work without addons so each to his own. It's rather for some who moan about steep prices which are actually not if thinking twice because it's easy to forget how many early AC one already has with initial WOFF, and which easily could have been left out in the first place and sold as addons. That's all. No witch hunt cheers

I still think the price is too steep, sorry, but that is my opinion...
If all the packs are to be in this price range then I'll only buy the odd pack that appeals to me.
If however they were cheaper, then I may decide to buy everything they put out, and in that case the developers will actually make more money out of me.
If the Dev's decide to have a 'sale price' later on on certain items, then again, I might be tempted to buy.

Yeah, pricing is a bit too steep for what is offered for me, too.

No big deal, I don't have to buy everything that's offered.

For 60 bucks, it's a really good flight sim with lots of aircraft and unparalleled immersion. If someone wants to go further with it, I'm glad we have the option to. If not, well, we still have 55 flyable aircraft and one awesome campaign manager.

One quick question WindingMan, do you not have all your customer e-mails from OFF and WOFF? Have you guys considered sending heads up e-mails to those that might not be on the forums or website often?

I don't find the add-on expensive. "Expensive" is directly proportional to the size of one's wallet and/or interest.

I used to spend thousands--thousands, folks--each year on cigarettes and booze. To see my favorite bands live costs at least a hundred bucks, for 90 minutes of music. Our cable bill is around a hundred bucks a month--and I don't even watch TV, because what was once The Vast Wasteland has become The Even Vaster Wasteland. So, for me, twenty five bucks is nothing. Especially for something that is interactive, won't give me cancer, won't give me Cirrhosis, won't stunt my intellect.

Those comments regard me. Not trying to talk anybody into buying what they don't want or can't afford. (See second line of this post.) smile

Looking forward to shooting down some E.Is! And now, bring on the Gotha! cheers
