I have noticed that when I land crosswind from the Windsox direction it doesn't seem to make a difference in my landing or approach. I do have the Wind On in the Workshop. I know that I am not that good at crosswind landings. Thanks

Luckily the wind is right down the field I'm using in my campaign, so I've never had occasion to land crosswind. But coming into the wind my groundspeed does slow, and although I've not studied it in depth it appears the windsock indicates the wind direction. I'll check during my next flight.

Thanks JFM, I have been doing the same thing and it does seem to be close. I have tried some cross wind landings just to see if there is any difference and have not noticed any. It might be that there just isn't much wind. I was hoping that someone on the Dev Team might let us know if the Windsox is programmed to show actual wind direction and speed.

I would expect that the wind would be commensurate with the weather for any given day as set out by the AI for weather. If that is true you may need to wait until "The Wind is UP" as Lou often says!

I've seen smoking wrecks right next to my airfield (the enemy AI are fond of our AAA). The direction that the smoke ascends does not match the windsock.

Windsock seems to go in opposite direction from the wind indicated by the smoke, but I did only one test.

(No SE5s were harmed during the test biggrin )
