I think the opposite is true. Burn during the day and stay dark at night. That's the lesson I took away from the shenanigans anyway.

That's what I got out of it snap. There is a cheat out there that pinpoints everyone though so they may have used that. From what I have read today, shooting people inside walls is only possible with a hack. So that is more fuel for the fire. Last night was funny and thought me some things also. I'm curious how fun it was standing outside our house while we shot the #%&*$# inside. He'll I walked away for a little while, came back, they were still running around.

Sorry to whoever I pick axed. That was stupid.

Active admins is a must, preferably one that claims to be a mature crowd. I can't take that crap in any game.
However, spreading out the resources some might be the thing to do. Sheds spread about certain areas for temp storage, furnaces, making planks, then relocate resources to the main base that would have the sleeping area. Several basic sheds. That way, lose anything and you only lose a portion of the resources. Once you learn to build guns losing guns isn't that big a deal, but losing your stashed resources to keep making them at will IS since that's where the real time is spent.
Pairing up to cover areas for gathering and using the sheds might be the way to go instead of having one base and continuously farming one small area, competing for respawning materials.
The shootout part was fun for sure. I like running in the buck hoping to shoot someone. LOL
Building is still the larger fun factor part of the game though, and if that's stifled then it removes a large chunk of the fun. Not as much as the hackers do of course. I'd only spent an hour or so on there and I felt terrible about the loss after you guys did all that work. Probably the worst night for me to have hopped on there. LOL

Aw, no big deal. I'd only been playing on that server for maybe a week and a half. It doesn't take super long to get going... and I imagine if we played together, we could accomplish more much sooner.

Splitting up the research tasks might help, too. i.e. one person focuses on crafting guns, one person focuses on crafting metal structures, one person focuses something else... etc. Just a thought.

I chose that location because it's usually pretty quiet there at night and the resources are abundant. It wasn't comfortable running much further than to them and back at any given time, anyway. Particularly when I was solo and getting the house up and running. I agree that we could pick any other spot or be more unobtrusive. But having those resources like the rock garden sure do speed up development times. Plus lots of local buildings and zeds.

I found a new server to try out last night that has an active admin. Users are capped to 100 and about 50 were on last night, including admin. Nice to see there are no shacks all over the place.

I set up two shacks with metal doors by the rock garden along the cliff there just to get us started with lots of resources available.

I'll get the server name to you all tonight.

Might hop on after MWO, but not sure about a server with that much on at one time. I want to find one with a mature crowd if possible.

Well, it might not be for everyone, but IMHO, games like this and DayZ require the human element to be fun at all.

You can't get much less than rusty gold. smile

Anyway, just got home and the server I played on last night isn't showing up in my history tab for some reason.

Guess it doesn't matter. We just need to pick one that looks good and try it out.

The browser is crap. Can't do searches, etc..

Keep trying it. Servers are going offline as they get the update. It might be back up later. Something between that NA server and Rusty is what I'd like to see. I don't want to be afraid to step outside more than a few hundred feet, but I do want to go out on some manhunts around the map. Raids are better a good distance from your home.

Zombies are gone but red predators are in: bears, wolves. They drop a loot bag and you can whack for a little bit of the usual animal resources, but not much.
New wood stack and stones with stages of gathering showing.

Man I freaking love this game.

Going lone wolf on an Asian PvP server. Scared all the time. Low on resources all the time. Surviving by my wits.

Got shot at and pursued across the map barely a minute spawning in. Injured from gunshots, used up all my bandages but alive. No clothes, no wood, but some food from a pig I killed early on. I would have had more food if not interrupted by gunfire while harvesting the pig. Getting too dark to find woodpiles. Had to crouch down so I can see the outlines of trees against the fading light of the sky and this is how I move from tree to tree, painfully gathering enough wood to build a shelter with door and having enough wood to stoke the campfire at night to ward off the cold.

Well I made it through the first night and relocated away from the hotspots (hopefully). Managed to skulk around to get enough resources for bows and arrows, and enough clothes so I can stay warm without lighting a campfire. I avoided getting shot long enough to gather enough stuff for a planned 3rd relocation until I thought I got lucky by being at the top of high rocky outcrop as an airdrop parachuted 3 crates right over my position.

You just have no idea how happy I felt at that moment. At the same time, I was in a panic to loot the crates and get out of dodge before a bunch of players converge on the spot. So with much anxiety I sprinted right to the dropzone, willing the crates to float down faster whilst nervously checking the valleys below me for approaching players. And that's when it happened.

I took my eyes off the sky and a crate landed on me and killed me. Hilarious way to go out. Shot at, chased at by players and wildlife, starvation, hypothermia....none of those got the better of me even if at times they came close...and I got done by an airdrop crate in the end. Well f**k me sideways. LOL

I respawned and started over. Not long after, I blundered into another fully clothed player holding a pistol. I yelled "Friendly" as though a naked man with a rock had any choice of yelling anything else besides "Stick em up and give me all your gear" LOL. I fully expect to get shot but without saying a word the guy stripped down butt naked and dropped me all his stuff. This kind soul must have been so impressed with the incredible length and girth of my manhood that he gifted me with blueprints for the M4 rifle and P250 pistol. He also dropped a leather helmet and vest, rad pants and boots, a bunch of food, 40x 9mmm ammo, a pickaxe and a P250 with silencer and holo sight.

WTH ?!? I don't know what to make of the people on this server. We exchanged pleasantries and went our separate ways. I read the blueprints but I will stash those weapons away and won't use them until I find their blueprints myself. Working your way up from the bottom as a caveman is all the fun with this game.

I will be off and on. I got an invite for Elder scrolls online beta this weekend. I haven't played it yet so I want to give it a shot.
