You don't. You either set your 1st stage trigger up to do something you want to have happen in conjunction with whatever you have the 2nd stage doing (perhaps designate the target under the reticule), OR, you have SST profiler modes where the 1st stage isn't assigned anything... OR, you utilize the triggers where the simulator itself will ignore the first stage trigger's function because it isn't active under some circumstances. DCS Blackshark's cannon comes to mind as an example, IIRC. If you don't have the cannon selected in the cockpit switchology, then the first stage trigger attempting to shoot the cannon will not result in a shot. The second stage trigger can fire your missle without a cannon shot accompanying it.

But it appears that won't be a concern/option with the X-55, which seems poor choice on Saitek's part.

now I'm even more confused, then what exactly is the benefit of dual stages trigger then? why some of you want it so badly and why can't you just use other button to accommodate whatever you meant to?

maybe they are thinking it the same way I'm perceive it so they see it as useless feature not worth adding one.

Because in some realistic sims that simulate aircraft with dual stage triggers it becomes a necessity to simulate the weapons operations properly. Ex: BMS or DCS A-10C, in the A-10C it's extremely usefull as you can engage PAC stabilization without our prior to actually firing the gun. You could also use it for a WW2 sim, say 1st stage Machine guns 2nd stage add cannons.

For "all purpose simulation" a dual trigger is more practical than a dual stage trigger - altought no "realistic" for A-10, P-51 (first stage gun cam, second guns)...

This concept has nicely introduced in (VKB/Defender) Cobra/Mamba:

You can fire MGs only with first trigger, Cannon only with second trigger and both pressing the first over the second.

It's hard to say for certain, but it looks like new profiling software, rather than just a few tweaks to the existing SST profiling software. I wonder if that profiler can still 'talk' to the already existing Saitek line of products...

$199 seems like a pretty good price point. It makes me tend to think they are still using el cheapo potentiometers though... sigh

On your 6 o'clock, messing wit...
Weird design from Saitek on a couple of things..
Two buttons on the RIGHT throttle and a hat on the LEFT throttle.. Eh!?

And a single stage trigger? C'mon...

Well, if it makes you feel any better, the two hats on the right throttle of the x65f don't really register in some games. Perhaps that's why they decided on two buttons this time. Either way, those buttons/hats get accidentally pressed when you use the throttle (usually when decreasing).

The hats are no longer interchangeable either now (we can unscrew them on the x65f).

On the plus side, the joystick looks stiffer with whatever spring it came with. Used to move my x52 around and the base would swing like crazy because the spring lost so much tension.

But yeah, this is clearly a X52 PRO replacement. Kind of want the throttle...

So, i found it on amazon today, including some new product images.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HHAIY72/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I got my pre-order in this afternoon when it was available as such. Amazon said it would ship by late jan, but that might be a placeholder date.

from CaptainPecan on the DCS forums:

Quote:
To everyone that is considering getting the X55 you might wanna start a massdrop vote and you could get really nice discount - i've seen things go for up to 42% off.

Needs 200 votes to get it to the purchasing stage.
https://www.massdrop.com/vote/saitek-x55-rhino-hotas-system-for-pc

Its similar to kickstarter, as in once there are enough people registered for interested, they will go straight to the manufacturer and get a batch of the product with discounted since there is no middle-man, and well they have a known quantity guaranteed for sale.

Make sure you vote for the first one option not the 2nd one (i stuffed it up)

sounds like it could be a good way to get a nice discount if we all get it in one batch.

Nice heads up, I went ahead and voted. It's currently at "72 out of 73 votes" if I'm reading it correctly.

Would be a decent way to perhaps score a warthog or obutto too....

$200...I'm a little tempted against my better judgment, if for no other reason than to give it a serious review immediately after launch.

This is Saitek's chance to defy my expectations of shoddy hardware and limited-functionality software. As it stands, I can't recommend the X-52, either variant, to those not willing to mod the stick to fix the inherent design problems, and I'm seriously hoping they learned from their mistakes with the X-55 this time.

Even if they made new mistakes like going back to a single-stage trigger and putting the throttle hat switch on the LEFT throttle instead of the RIGHT. It makes more sense under the index finger than the pinky finger.

I think I'll try to pick one of these up used after a few months.

I simply can't justify $500 for a TM Warthog HOTAS and this seems to have all the necessary buttons and hats to actually use DCS: A10 (and upcoming complex sims) without needing 6 modifier keys for a single hat switch.

Hopefully it will be considerably cheaper than that if this massDrop (see above) vote works out
