I have been enjoying this one. There is plenty of challenge in just trying to stay alive. I'm just playing solo for now, but so far I like it a lot.

Who are we? We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe in which there are far more galaxies than people.

Lots of fun last night. I can see that the standoff weapons like the crossbow are the way to go when fighting the zombies. I never did figure out how to craft a crossbow bolt though. I had a stick, feather and small stone in my main inventory, but when I clicked on "Crossbow Bolt" it would not put the items needed up in the crafting slots. I may have had the wrong small stone? Thanks Feetwet and Snapdad for helping me get started with 7DTD.

I will be back on tonight to play a little bit more. My farm platform collapsed AGAIN, so its on to plan b.

As a reminder, when the crafting item is white, it means you have all the materials but you have to place them yourself. Selecting the white name will give you the outline to fill in. If it is green it means you have built one before and it will place the items for you.

The crossbow bolt was a pain for me originally to. Here it is...

<space> <space> <small rock>
<space> <stick>
<feather>

Snap has built us a nice little tower homestead. But food and water is becoming an issue. We can keep up but we have to make sure we now how much food is prepared. Maybe a new storage chest that just holds food. We also need to find an iron ore vain so we can make some real tools.

If anyone wants to join us on this server it will be up when I am online. As a reminder to people who want to start your own. Start a public game with a password and give the IP to your friends. There are a ton of options on startup to tailor your environment.

I just watched a YouTube video on making the crossbow bolts. I had crafted the correct small stone needed. I just got confused because crossbow bolt was not listed as green in the crafting menu, it was white. Because as you mentioned above, I had not crafted one previously.

We definitely need to work on having more food and water available. I wasn't much help last night because it was all new to me. It seems you could almost have one guy dedicated to food and water production to keep up with the demand.

I'll join your server again soon, but I work nights. So I don't play during the evenings during the week unless I'm off from work that day. Thanks again for hosting a game and having the patience to deal with a noobie.

No problem, we were all there at one point. I was not ready for the food demands. I usually play single player (no one else around) and the food/water is plentiful at that point. With 3 of us...that was tough.

Feetwet and I were focused tonight.

- We got a sweet elevated corn/potato farm up and running after some trial and error.
- We successfully mined our way to some paydirt.
- We triple buffered the building defenses.
- We learned that although when Snap falls into said triple-buffered defenses and should most certainly die in seconds whether by pointy stakes or the impending onslaught of 30 zombies swarming all over him, he will not go down. A most delightful bug.
- We can now craft several swell weapons, hand craft some delicious, nutritious meals and are basically self sufficient.

We've lived over 8 days. I think it might be time to see the zombies morph into fast zombies at night... 8 days is surely enough to see something happen genetically. It could get really dangerous.

Thats a lot of progress! How are you building, what material? Seems you can't use raw stone for blocks now. Cobblestone?

Cobblestone is the primary building material. We have several layers of walls with trunktips between 2 of them. 4 regular stone forms 4 cobblestone.

It is apparent that I am playing this game with a T100. Snap fell in my brand new tip trap, was then surrounded by an uncountable number of zeds and somehow stayed alive. I was taking pot shots from the roof but most of the wet work was done by him.

The Creekside Redoubt is definitely starting to shape up. We can try to turn the zeds to default movement but I am not sure the torches are working to slow them down. If the torches don't work we will get slaughtered.

Alot of good work done here. Might have to take tonight off but if anyone wants me to start the server for a while just let me know.

When I fell in, I immediately killed the spike i was standing on so I could stand on the ground. Of course, I was trapped in the corner and then the zeds started falling in on top of me. I think the other spikes helped kill them off and I just kept whacking them with my axe. Can't believe I didn't die.

Always carry some pills with you, I guess. smile

Hopefully we don't keep hearing the cries of trapped rabbits... guh!

Not sure if you're available to throw the server up or not. Just got home from band practice. If not, no worries. I know it's late notice.

Sorry for the no-show on 7 Days last weekend.

I was feeling under the weather for a few days and when I got better, all my time went to Rust.

It took me a while as a lone wolf to gather enough resources to build a proper tower block w/ defences. I haven't built it yet after I discovered another great no PvP server called RustHelper.com where you spawn in infinite fabrication and materials to quickly build, tear down, blow up and test various structures and weapons.

So this is what has been occupying my time. Using RustHelp.com to optimize my base. Once I finalize, I will get bck to my PvP server and put up a proper home.

Sorry Snap, I checked just after 8 but didn't again for the rest of the night. I plan to play some payday tonight but if that falls thru I will probably do some 7 days.

Alpha 7.7 release notes say that they fixed a blueberry seed bug. Must explain why we couldn't obtain blueberry seeds the other day.

Just saw this from the 7.6 release notes:

* Added new huge high school location and new road in the plains

I guess you can loot lockers there, too.

Gonna have to go explore that new location!

So we have gotten ourselves pretty well established. On friday, I will be back out there but this time with zeds turn to default movement. They need to be a little harder.
