Isn't there an option in the Workshop for "Lens Flare On/Off"? Right upper corner of the screen IIRC. confused

It's "Sun Glare," and if you do turn it off it WILL turn off the lens flare, BUT... it will also turn off the sun. It looks like a shadowless moon.

Here's what it looks like with 'Sun Glare' set to 'Off':

...

And below it is 'On' but without removing the flare textures:

Wow that worked wonders.....

I just added a folder into the weather one and called it "Lens Flare" and moved the flare.dds files into it just incase.

I like them as they are,the lens effect it's nice, does not impair vision or anything else, and it adds to the graphic appearance imho. This is a game not reality,if you like reality thne fly real planes! You don't freeze at 10000ft,you don't get rain in your face at 100mph,you are not shaken by flak bursts, you don't feel pain when hurt, you don't burn alive and you don't have your bowels stirred with fear when someone shots at you from behind,it's a game a 2 D game, not reality winkngrin

lederhosen, nice catch on this older thread. I was just wondering how this had been done before, and now my memory has been refreshed. Thanks! smile2

Yes indeed.
Guess it makes my post in the other thread a moot point.

I do fly real planes Cav and I don't see lens flare when doing that, either. If people like it in the sim, fantastic! I'm glad for the workaround.

Love the lens flares, hate the sun glare.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in practice, there is.

Think I am with you BJM based on the screenshots here.
Lucky it is very easy to satisfy all sides on this one.
So easy in fact that OBD should spend the time somewhere else IMHO.

The human eye does not see lens flare... cameras etc will catch it. It just looks pretty in game, but really you shouldn't be able to see it.

I have had no big issue with my limited experience with the new stuff from the cockpit but, as you say, it is not a human eye thing which is enough reason for me to do some file moving. Guess I had forgotten it was such an easy fix as I was focused elsewhere.
Boy this topic sure took off. You'd think someone was dead.
