I'm starting a new thread (as suggested by RoFfan) on this topic.

What Front, Rear and ground Gun Settings would be very close to realistic/historical?

In OFF, I had set the front guns to normal and the rear guns to less accurate and the ground guns to normal. Actually, there was a MOD which made a value for the front guns to fall between normal and less accurate.

These settings affected both the player and AI. I don't know if this is the case for WOFF also.

The defaults are where we think they should be, but you can adjust for personal taste.

I would argue that only the "less accurate" setting is a good representation of WW1 air combat. smash However, I think it's great that this can be adjusted in WOFF to suit the user's preference. yep

I've not changed any yet, but I've been tempted to adjust the Ground Gun accuracy.

When you're under 2k feet altitude, every machinegun in the area can hit you steadily. The larger AAA gun accuracy seems fine - I've not been directly hit by one of those yet which is as bad as historical accounts say.

Another reason I was thinking of lowering ground gun accuracy was for strafing trenches. The infantry machinegun fire is very accurate but I don't think they take cover when you're diving on them as many often did back then (thus lessening the return fire while doing so). This is mainly regarding flying over enemy infantry units, as the AA around balloons and other locations seems to be good.

Ground fire is known for being extremely deadly, there's good reason why the briefings always remind you not to fly too low and why trench strafing was such a dangerous job IRL.

I always change ground accuracy to 'hard' for balloon busting missions. Not because I'm a masochist, but to simulate the fact that the balloon's defense forces have the skies around there ranged and should be able to pick you off a lot easier. It's an old OFF habit, I don't know if it's strictly necessary in WOFF since WOFF may already increase AA around balloons without my help.

I'm getting continuously nailed by the AI on normal setting. boom

On less accurate, me and the AI are so daft, that we can't even hit the side of a Barn. wacky

Since this is a game about shooting, anyone know which file controls dispersion and range?

The game is about shooting and as set up in workshops will give you a good idea of how they lived and died in WW1.

In P3 initially there were no aids in workshops for gunnery but of course folks want to survive and rack up 80 kills even though they cannot even fly a sim.
So thats what the setting is for.

I remember when we added the gunnery settings we still had complaints that easy was not easy enough so we dumbed it down more etc etc and so it goes...
Of course one persons idea of hard is another persons idea of easy so this we cannot ever win.

Maybe we should have a 0 - 100% slider for everything... naah not gonna happen.

Put them on default and try to be a better pilot.... is my advice....many folks are getting 30 claims or more so we are actually thinking of making it harder at this stage.

Yeah, I'm almost to 30 with one career, no pilot death yet. Mostly it's because the enemy AI are suicidally aggressive. I would look there first if you want to reign in the kill tallies.

Move around meet other squads - we have elite, and novice squads too all mixed in there with different morale and other things influencing them. Aces will fight to the death to a point.

Goodness, you seem to have taken that personally. No offense intended. sigh

Yes, sometimes my guys don't attack when they should, and sometimes the enemy AI will pursue all the way back to my aerodrome where they get shredded by AAA. I'm not being inconsistent or judging unfairly, just describing what I see. reading

WOFF AI is still much better than RoF AI.
