I just finished a campaign mission flying in Jasta 12. It was 25 July, 1917. There was a flight of SPAD XIIIs which jumped our flight as we neared our own aerodrome and I managed to shoot two of them down. However, there was no SPAD XIII in the dropdown list on the kill claim form. Only a SPAD VII.

Not sure exactly what squadron they were from, but they may have been British. I'm pretty sure one had a "Mac" or "Mc" flying amongst them, as I recall having a historical ace with that last name targeted in the middle of it. Their squadron must've just received a handful, whichever it was, as that's the first I've encountered any in this campaign.

Note: I've been playing this campaign since around patch v1.5. I don't know if changes in an update may have thrown something off or not.

Actually you can use it for your roleplay. Maybe the type was so new and not known yet. Even you you choose other types your claim can get confirmed. You can claim what you see and describe the type you know. I remember once that I claimed an aircraft which looked a bit like the Sopwith Pup. Must have been a newer type and I described it like a newer version of the Pup obviously and it was confirmed. Actually it was a Camel but it was not selectable yet so I assumed that the type simply was not so known yet for the other side.
Also when flying without labels and you fight a Nieuport 17 or so, I can't see if it is a Nieuport 17 bis or whatever, so I just use Nieuport 17. Also with all the various Albatros DV types. In fight and without labels I don't know if it was a DV 200 hp or whatever. Even when not the right Ac often enough it gets confirmed, as it was in real.

1.8 is latest version - but you can also select single seater type...
