"Would of" and "could of". My God, that is annoying! Also, since we're an aviation-minded bunch, "hanger" instead of "hangar". This has gone to such lengths that several aviation magazines have been guilty of this error. A hangar is a building in which you put your aeroplane, a hanger is something to...hang things on!
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

Thank God, I thought I was the only one. And "capitol" instead of "capital". Makes me cringe every time.

How about medias. I actually heard that used by a media person, quite recently. Ouch. Pron and porn being used interchangeably. Prawn and Shrimp also. Pron (and pr0n) are old traditional net words, used to dodge nanny bots. Their use now is like a cultural reference, like B1ff and l33t.

How about just throwing "er" behind a word. The media loves doing this and it makes me cringe.

Awesomer! Something that is more awesome than awesome but not awesome enough to be the awesomest. Dude, that hoodie is so much awesomer than your old one. Just..um wow, wow The bad part is I HAVE to use that website just to know what my 17 year old daughter is saying to her friends! When did I become my dad? I have no clue what the young say anymore!

None so much as Netspeak, and what has evolved from it-
2day 4ever H8ter hax0rz rotflmfao bcuz or b/cos
This is more deliberate than common misspellings, this is a deliberate form of slang. Slang in itself doesn't necessarily bother me, but this is conformity that bugs me- particularly because it's a form of speech that an adult might copy from a twelve year old. No twelve year old in the world is cool.
No one gets out of here alive.

...makes me want kill people. If you want to come off as a moronic grade-school drop-out, I'm not sure there's a more effective method than this.

Ironical Conversate Definately Basically, any misspelled word does it for me. I don't make spelling mistakes (typing mistakes are another story!) and I never could understand how it can be so hard not to spell words correctly. To me it's like not learning the alphabet or numbers in order.

No twelve year old in the world is cool. haven't seen bcuz b/cos, but cuz, and the brit equivalent cos, have been around for many decades prior to computers. I believe you may be able to find 'cos in A.A.Milne's Christopher Robin books, for instance IIRC. It comes under the general heading of rendering (or is it called transliterating?) dialect, I believe.
